Does Anyone have a successful Amazon.com Affiliate website?

If so how long did it take to start making some money? Do you sell one product, one product category, or a variety of products? Do you sell products from other third party retailers as well?

    Cardisa,
This program has been very frustrating to me. I added relative affiliate links to my Blogs and I immediately got a lot if "impressions". I thought, WOW, this is going to be a great thing for me.
    But, after ayear, NO MONEY!
It doesn;t amke sense, that I can get hundreds of impressions and none of them are buying.
I went back and checked what I am doing, my account information, and everything is as it should be. Still, hundreds of impressions a day, and NO MONEY!
    How about yourself?
    Don

I have a recipe blog that sells a few items but I only place a few items there. I started a new affiliate blog a couple of weeks ago so no sales yet. I am building a  targeted website (not yet launched), hence the question.

I have been an Amazon affiliate since 2003 when I began selling my self-published books. It was a hassle to mail boxes of books to Kentucky and Colorado to Amazon's warehouses whenever they "ordered" me to, but I made some very nice money--until I ran out of books to sell.

    Flash forward 9 years.

When I started on HP six weeks ago, I said to myself, "Okay, now I'll take it easy and let folks click their way to my retirement funds." I added Amazon capsules to most of my hubs and a "book carousel" widget of my titles on my personal website. The referral rate on the first 6 orders will earn me 4%, 7 referrals will earn me 6%--not exactly lucrative. And why would people order through my Hubpages or website when they can go directly to Amazon.com? Like Don, I get plenty of impressions, but I have yet to get a single referral.

On HP my Amazon capsules sold books/CDs/movies that complemented my content. I took most of the capsules down, mainly so there would be more room for Google Adsense. On my website, I sold Kindle accessories (not a single impression!). I don't have that banner ad anymore. I get most of my impressions from my collection of Kindle novels in that nifty carousel widget.

I have yet to make any money in six weeks, but at least I don't have to ship books anymore.

You need to give your products more time. There is a sales ratio that I can't remember. The click return on impressions is minimal and the sales returns on clicks are also minimal. It took me nearly a year to get my first sale on my blog.

I guess its really dependent on what you are trying to sell, I don't get as many impressions as Don Bobbitt, but I do get sales, nothing to retire on but last month 11% of the impressions I received actually bought something.

Do you sell one item only, or a set of items from the same category or a variety of items? How long did it take to start making sales?  Your response will be highly appreciated.

I've been on Hubpages for 4 months, the first month nothing, I got my first couple of sales in the 2nd month, and its gotten better since then. 98% of everything for me is nutrition supplements/health related, with the exception of gaming systems/gam

I thought you had an independent website, that's really what I am trying to get info on. Sorry about that and thanks for responding.
