Have you ever been the victim of internet fraud?

A friend of mine told me that her son's bank account was just about emptied and they think it was after he paid for goods online. Has this ever happened to you?. This happened to me a few years ago. Luckily they didn't get away with much and thankfully my bank was fully supportive.

Twice I've had my PayPal account hacked. Luckily, they never got away with anything but as access was gained to credit card/bank account details, all my cards had to be cancelled. My credit card provider also insisted I report the matter to the police in case of fraudulent misuse. The advice PayPal gave me above all else was to never use the same password for PayPal as for anywhere else online and to change my PayPal password at least once a month, every month. Fortunately, both tips have worked so far as the last time was about four years ago.

That's scary having PayPal hacked - that hasn't happened to me but this is excellent advice about changing the password regularly - this is something I don't do, but will have to start as a safety precaution.

This happened to me a couple of years ago after making an online purchase with my credit card. My bank too was very good at sorting it out.

Hi Rosemay, it's really scary, because before the internet I think most of us wouldn't have probably been a victim of fraud/theft. But online, there seems to be so many people who have been caught out!
