I would like information as to where I being an ex-felon where I might be able to find employment?
I have just moved to Alabama from Indiana, I have a class B felony battery conviction in 1998 and since my release I have not been able to find any kind of work. I would like to know if there is anyone that would have any information as to where I might have a chance to find employment. I have one year of Business College, 1000hrs. HVAC, 1000hrs Maytag Repair. Three years of Industrial Building Maintenance. I have good carpentry skills and Automotive repair and service. I work very well with my hands, I have a good attitude and a positive out-look on life. Please contact me with any info.
That sound good and all but being how it is an adult charge and I have only been out for just over two years that is not an option at this time tough. However thank you for your responce!!!
Unfortunately, companies now run background checks and if you have a felony on your record, they will turn you away. I worked very briefly for one of the nation's largest consumer reporting agency, and it's a sad state of affairs for applicants with a criminal record.
There are 10 states currently that have a 7 year reporting limit, however, Alabama is not one of them. Even though a company may request only a 7-year criminal history, the type of report the agency runs will bring back ALL criminal history even if it's more than 7 years old. Once that history is pulled, there's no putting the genie back in the bottle. The system rejects the applicant automatically, the employer is notified, and the applicant is sent a letter stating that he or she was denied employment based on information found in their background report.
I would suggest starting your own business. I know that takes capital, but even with capital, HVAC installation and building maintenance require a license and bonding, which requires a criminal background search. Automotive repair might be a good avenue for you to pursue.
My words are intended to be enlightening and not negative. It's the reality of your situation, but don't give up on hope! Good luck to you!
The White House is hiring tax dodgers so the first place for a ex-felon to look for a job is there.
I can tell you for sure that you have all the skills for a job in apartment maintenance. Apartment complexes are forever needing maintenance men and they're sometimes hard to find. I suggest applying. Be professional and speak intelligently and you should be able to land a job. Good luck!
hey bro - i hear ya when it comes to proving your worth as a god damn human being again.... they dont let you forget but you can get by it. but you have to be honest or leave section on applications blank and write instead "Will explain..."
i'm convicted three times as a felon and thought i'd never work at a decent job but... while in prison i took a college course- when i got out i went back to finish 4 years with a BA at the end of it.
i also volunteered alot. i got peoples confidence back and always gave 100 percent- even tho i wasnt being paid. i worked homeless shelters - lived in them too!
community action programs always have spots open- be a peer counselor- work w/youth- cops will even respect ya then- honest man- the world changes for people who give... but once, only took!. speakin for myself only bro. and especially if you have a message to pass along - one of hope.
volunteering always leads to something else mostly employment if you can handle it that is. lotta mutha fukkas say "shit! i aint doin nuthin for free!" but they'll be the first ones in the chow line at the church or shelter- takes alot to be a man -step up -and do the work you were born to - peace brother- gz ~-[ :

Would you move if you found out your landlord had a serious criminal background?Long story short - Our apartment is attached to her home with a door that has no lock. That door goes into shared laundry room. Her charges start in 1994 and go all the way through a charge she is out on bail for. Some...

I was not a Ben Carson cheerleader. I liked what I saw, but things were just starting. Now, I think his recent revelations about his violent actions when he was a kid have doomed him. Not necessarily because of the actions he discussed, (at least for me), but because it appears obvious that it is...
