If you were ever fired from a job due to lateness, poor work performance, insubordination, &
absenteeism, did you eventually become gainfully employed again in a worse, similar, or even better job? Did you branch out on a new, different career? Or did you give up, feeling that all is lost and your life is ruined, even becoming self-destructive?
I have not got fired but been victimized before increment in 2 jobs. Both times in Indore (M.P.), where professionalism has yet to step in. The first time it happened, I went in to depression and waited for them to apologize. They did. But by then I had wasted a lot of time. This time I was careful and did not drown myself totally in the job.
4 weeks have passed since I left the job. I am fine and exploring new opportunities which are pouring in. I also have the satisfaction of having done my assignments very well for which I also received appreciation from the clients.
I have come to terms that the employer will always have the upper hand. Let God decide there!
I, personally, always find a better job or career afterward. In retrospect I discover that I was actively sabotaging my performance at the old job in order to break free. In my younger days, it could be a troublesome adventure, but as I learned what I was doing and what I was capable of, I eventually got to the point where I would not accept a new job unless I was basically hired on the spot. And even then, I've still turned a few down.

Do you think a mistake on the first day should lead to you being fired? If it was your first day on the job and you had a slip of the tongue, do you think you'd understand your boss' need to fire you?
