Has anyone else ever been offered a writing job because of a hub you published?

I received a writing job offer from a site to join their writing team because of a hub that was moved to one of the niche sites that won a Hubbie.  I already have a full-time job, but I thought it is great that there is the possibility of obtaining a writing job via HubPages or one of the niche sites from outside of these sites.  I haven't responded back yet.  Just curious if anyone else been offered a writing job via publishing hubs on HubPages or one of the niche sites?

Hey Faith, yes I've had several offers for both how-to and Fiction from articles published on this and other sites. I did write a few children's mysteries--called 5 minute mysteries--but they only paid $50 apiece and it wasn't worth my time. They had to have no red herrings so it was difficult to come up with new plots easily. I wrote a couple, one is on an audiobook now.

You'll have to consider the offer carefully as to what it entails. I know of others who have gained work through here and other sites. Good luck!

Hi Randy, That's all very interesting and good to know.  I figured the pay would not be great.  I checked out the site on Google and it is a legitimate site, but as I stated, I do have my day job : )  I appreciate you.

Faith, congratulations on the well-deserved hubby award and also the job offer. I haven't gained any writing work through HubPages directly but I do use my HubPage profile and hubs as my portfolio or resume when clients ask to see a sample of my work..so it is helpful.Hopefully, the niche site offer additional access to the public.

Thanks, John. I was quite surprised about the win and job offer haha, and it never crossed my mind publishing here could possibly bring employers interested in hiring writers. Yes, HP is a great tool to showcase your writing for potential employers.

Writing is a hot commodity for internet marketing these days. If the pay is good, why not? I am more active in Lifehack than here, so I have more exposure and people just email me to do freelance writing. Some have become my monthly retainer...

Hi Julie, Wow, that is great you receive a lot of freelance jobs because you are active on Lifehack. Yes, if the pay is good, I guess I can write on the weekends, etc.  Sounds like you've built up a regular base. Thank you for answering.

Good thing about freelance, you have your own time when you accept it and when you don't. Total flexibility. Yep sure you're welcome.

Not a job offer but the opportunity to be featured and paid for a Tutorial which will be featured in a well-known publication at the end of the year.
Congrats on the offer, that really is fantastic.

Wow, Sally, that's wonderful about your Tutorial being featured in a well-known publication!  Plus being paid, to boot.  Who knows what else will come from it being featured.  I know the future looks bright for you and your wet felting expertise.

    Hi Faith!

Yes I have actually gained a client from HubPages. I moved to a new state and was sharing some of my HubPages articles with a new acquaintance in my town and she asked me to write some articles for her blog. I wrote a paid weekly blog post for her for 18 months and that job just ended because she is going in a new direction.

A news reporter also saw my posts and contacted me the week before we moved and my husband and I were on TV in a segment about people moving south from New England. That was fun!

Wow, Karen, that is all so cool!  Seems you were in the right place at the right time! It all sounds like great fun. Thank you for sharing of how writing on HubPages led to new employment opportunities. I hope many more are to come for you.

Congratulations, Theresa, on your hubbie award and also on being offered a job through hubpages!  I would think that it's a clear possibility if people read and enjoy the writers' work.  I presume the niche sites concentrate on specifics more and therefore are easier to access for like-minded or interested people.
No offers for me yet but there's plenty of time!!
Do let us know if you decide to accept!
    Ann

Thank you so much, Ann.  Yes, must be the case about the niche sites and the world can zero in on certain topics.  I never would have thought I'd win on a niche site, much less be offered a writing job.  I will do so.  Blessings

I've used some of the featured hubs on my "writing resume" and proof of what I can write, and I have been hired to ghost write hubs for others.

Really ...ghost writing hubs!  Now, that is very interesting, as I've never thought of that kind of writing opportunity.  Apparently, your idea paid off. Thank you for sharing.

Like others that have replied here, I've used my Hub articles to showcase my writing abilities. While I cannot say I've been offered work because of my HubPage experience, I can certainly say that it has lead me to other opportunities in writing.

Hi Graham, oh, yes, if we have featured hubs to showcase our writing abilities, our hubs are great in that regard no doubt!  That is great about writing on HP lead you to other opportunities in writing.  Thank you for answering.
