   Do you believe we'd be better off breaking corporations up into medium size businesses?

   I think some corporations are too large but as we don't control the world, we'd need a lot of cooperation from other countries.
   
   If we could get that, yes, I would be in favor.  But even then, who is going to decide how big is too big?
   
   It's probably better to work to be sure smaller companies can compete.

   Competition is the biggest key, if the small businesses have a fair chance then corporations can't take advantage of employees or consumers.

   That simply isn't possible within the boundaries of the law, at least not in this country. Corporations, like individuals, have legal rights. One of the most basic rights any person or organization has is the right to exist.
   
   Of course, if you live in a country like Cuba or Venezuela, where the government can (and/or has) seized control of any corporation is sees fit to, then it is a different story. Corporations have very few rights in those countries. Then again, human rights in those countries are also very restrictive. It's no coincidence. It's a slippery slope between taking rights away from corporations and taking rights away from individuals. If you can force a corporation to divest, why not extend that to wealthy individuals? After all, Bill Gates alone has more money than the vast majority of corporations do.
   
   If you would rather live in a country where the rights of corporations are limited, I invite you to move to Venezuela, Cuba or any country that leans towards communism or socialism. Personally, I fear my government more than I fear any corporation. That's your call though.

   Well, Diabetes Reporter, we used to have Anti-Trust investigations before the 70s (like breaking up the government-subsidized AT&T) and we weren't communist.... corporations aren't like people. If you break up a corporation, the individuals who owned it can start over. It's like a capitalist ladder that always competes. I'd like a world where a decentralized government and small (and medium-sized) companies compete against eachother, but individuals pool resources and cooperate. But I'm an idealist who likes both libertarianism and Marxism...
