I need a space to work. Where do you work on your articles?

I have to go back and edit my articles often. I think it's because of the space that I'm in. At the moment, my laptop goes with me wherever the kids are in the house. This is so I can keep an eye on them. With school starting in two weeks I will finally be ALONE ( my youngest is starting too ). With this being said, I need a space where I can work peacefully, when they're home and off from school. Any suggestions?

What I've been doing lately is to take my laptop in town with me and go to Cafes and places like that that have Wi-Fi, this has been total freedom for me, although I don't do it everyday, some days are just ace as I can have a really bad coffeee whilst writing and networking on my Lapotop...

When your family wants you around, it is tricky to get time for writing.  My kids are grown and out of the house and I still have this issue!  My husband likes me nearby, and the kids are either visiting us or we're visiting them on weekends. There just isn't enough time!

When they are around and we're just hanging out, I keep my laptop nearby so I can pick it up when everyone seems occupied.  Sometimes I need quiet time, so I usually get that in the mornings.  I have a tiny office because I sometimes work from home.  Lately, I've been doing it at the sofa.

If my kids were still at home, I would probably write in my bedroom if they were playing, watching TV or taking baths.  Depends on their ages, too.

Sometimes the kitchen table works well, because if you have notes or other materials, you can spread out a little.  I go there when I want space and a surface instead of a lap.

Not sure if this will help you, but good luck!

My home office. When I am working, everyone knows not to disturb. Make hard rules about your workspace.

I normally do it at home. Well, since i do it on laptop, find a nice spot you are comfortable with. I love beside the window where there are breeze and nice green views outside

I find that when I go to the library and use the computer there I get more done. Sometimes there are just too many distractions at home.

This is probably embarrassing, but I prefer my recliner with my feet up, using my laptop.

I have also been known to take the laptop or my journal on car rides to outlying areas for inspiration.

There is also the occasional book or coffee shop.

Basically, I just follow my whims and see where they lead me.

    Happy writing!

If you need to watch over your kids, that is difficult to do.  With me, I can only do that when my 1 year old kid and new born is already asleep.

If I can spare an hour before my new born baby cries, that would be nice.  Apart from the that, that is the only time I can work peacefully and undisturbed.

I have to keep in mind though that writing is only secondary, taking care of kids and wife comes first.  Just learn to concentrate even though you have distractions from time to time, its part of life smile
