Before you join in the deep end be sure to do your due diligence first;
Many people believe they have the perfect idea for an online business and because there is little or no competition run with the idea only to discover six months later there is no market for their product or service - no business in fact.
Here is a good way to know if you have a viable online business;
1. Keyword research - use Google keyword tool - pick your main keyword, what would people type into google when looking for your product? If the main keyword has less than 500,000 monthly searches then you have a limited customer base and demand.
2. Go to ezine articles and in the categories area search for articles related to your niche/product. Check the stats for the top 10 most read articles in your niche - over time they should add up to no less than 10,000 total reads on those articles. Any less and nobody is searching for your product or service.
If you hit a home run with these two (there are other ways to do market research) then you're onto a winner and I wish you well ;-)
