60 Day Challenge, The Second Time Around

An Oldie but a goodie

60 Day Challenge

The first 60 day challenge, I didn't know I wasn't up to it. My life was a mess, it was the first time in my life ever dealing with unemployment. I was so desperate to find my way out of the hole that I sent myself into a real panic state. They say something about "if you can keep your head when all those around you are losing theirs," well I couldn't. The funniest part is that for years I could have given you the exact quote. Not anymore, I don't remember it now.

I learned a lot from the first challenge, namely that these people in the 60 Day Challenge were there for me, even when I couldn't be counted on due to my own problems. They stood by me and encouraged me, and gave no recriminations when I was not up to the task. For those of you that are new to the challenge, you have gotten in with the most unique group of Hubbers you will ever encounter. I know there are others who are great, but this is a team, they are here for you for the long haul, with a single goal.

"When we work together, we all benefit."

My Goals

New Challenge, New Goals!

My number one goal this time is to FOCUS. To be a part of the team. Last time I got lost because of so much e-mail! I missed some crucial updates. I have to stop my other on line endeavors to make money. That's what got me overwhelmed last time around, I had too many irons in the fire. MSN has a new sweep tool that allows you to mark future e-mails from a sender to designated folders. I have solved my E-mail clutter problem.

My second goal this time is to set a schedule and make this my full time job. I know that if I set aside time that is just for Hub Pages and nothing else, I will become successful.

My third goal is to learn to value my own writing. I have grown so dependent on the comments of others to make me feel like a "worthy" hubber. When I would see that I had many visits but no comments, I felt deflated, as if I hadn't done my job as a writer. I am a big kid now. If I am getting traffic then I shouldn't be worried about why I am not getting comments.

My fourth goal is to make my first payout. I thought that I had to sell items to do that and rules I read were that you couldn't review something you didn't own. Well, while that may be true, I was looking at it all wrong. There are many things I own, as well as services I use, that I haven't even tried to write a review for.

My writing is important to me, and I have the skills I need to be successful. I just don't know enough about marketing those skills. I will share what I have learned, and hopefully I will learn more. I have a special tweak to share with the team this time around, a discovery I made by accident, I hope will benefit team members.

This Time

I was so unclear as to what my goals were last time, and I didn't even know what I was going to write about. I knew I had "lots of ideas" and "boundless inspiration" but for a challenge like this eagerness to participate and scattered dreams are not going to help me to succeed. I was afraid to set any concrete hopes as I didn't believe in myself, didn't think I could achieve them.

This time I know what I want and I know what I am going to do to achieve it.

The 60 Day Challenge YouTube Song List

Alright 60 Day Challengers! I have a song list for when those doldrums hit us. Here's the link and I'll add any requests. When you click the link you can click play all and the music will play in the background while you write or research for your hubs!

The 60 Day Challenge Song List

Any requests, just add them in the comments section or drop me an e-mail!

Oh and you can click auto-shuffle, and the songs will randomize. If one goes on too long, or is too loud, just click the next arrow under the video.

Faybe, you will do it this time! I just know you will and we are all here to support each other. I've never even completed the 30 day challenge, but I just know I'm going to get this one done - this is the push I needed! Great hub. It will be inspiring to others :)

Welcome to the challenge Faybe! I wish you the best with your goals! I'll be interested in reading your human trafficking hubs... I was thinking about fitting something about that in a few of mine as well. Most people don't realize that we have a problem with that here in America. Glad to have you on board!

Hello Faybe! and welcome to the challenge. I am a new participant this time around and I am looking forward to working with everyone.

The hub above was very interesting so you have no worries about your writing abilities. Hope to meet you in the forums and look forward to reading your hubs

Hi IzzyM, I have every confidence you will do 30 in 30 with no problem! Sunforged was very flexible with us on that part and also we'll remind each other. I had a late start, so I need to get a few hubs done ASAP just to catch up! Thanks for checking in with me.

Hi Lisabeaman, I am so glad to meet you in the 60 Day Challenge.

I have written a few hubs on Human Trafficking already, and there are so many more by other Hubbers, such as lmmartin, who used to work for the state on child welfare issues. Patty Inglish MS also did one on the problem in Toledo and we have a hubber called Rescueachild who has devoted her life to this cause. Please add your voice to all of ours to help get the message out that Human Trafficking is here, and it's happening right in our own neighborhoods.

Hi Viking305, I am glad to meet you also, and so looking forward to reading more of your hubs! I am spending today meeting the rest of the team and then hopefully getting some hubs up and running to catch up on the challenge.

It's going to be fun working together!

Terrific hub, Faybe! Looking forward to reading all 60. I like the way you've got the topics organized. I have a list on a yellow legal pad of future hubs. I might just commit to the new 60-day challenge, myself! I know you'll reach payout and start seeing a return on the investment of your time!

Thanks Paradise7! I am really gonna give it my all. I have new inspiration as I am starting some creative writing on the side for a personal goal, so this might be a real turning point in my writing career.

Thanks Waynet! I am so excited, reading all of the hub logs. I am making today be the meet and greet, plus follow day. Then I can concentrate on writing in bulk. If I can manage a chunk like you have, that frees up time for stuff like food and sleep, lol.

Hi Maita! I am so glad to be back writing with you! I am afraid my facebook games will have to take a back seat to my writing, but if I get really good at this, I may some day have time to play games again! LOL!

Seriously, thank you for the offer of help. I fell down last time and was afraid to ask.

Thank you.

Hey Faybe Bay, a very nicely written and goal oriented hub log. I guess we get to see how well you do and help you to accomplish your goals. It's going to be quite interesting and a little bit a fun on the journey. So, like we both said on my hub log- let's go wrestle the traffic into submission! LOL! It's nice to see you try again and I'm glad you to see you know your first mistakes, so as to not make them again, and with the support of the group...you shouldn't have a problem. :)

Faybe Bay profile image

Faybe Bay 6 years ago from Florida Author

Thanks Cagsil, not only that, but I have your hubs to "defreak me" as they do. I know where to go when I need help now. No more hiding out in my own fear! Let's Rock this challenge!

Great job Faybe in outlining your goals, the reason why so many fail to reach their goals is because they never write them down. I am looking forward to working with you during this challenge. Best wishes, I'm pulling for you! :)

Faybe Bay, The new 60DC team has some very awesome accomplished people on it that I know you and I will learn a lot. Faybe, my life is always in a hole! With 5 grown and married kids and grandkids and soon to be great grand daughter, there is never a dull moment. My husband lost his job 18 months ago and it seems no one wants a 60 year old engineer.Oh well, life goes on and we just keep one foot in front of the other. When one door closes another opens.

I know from what we learned from the last challenge and what we are going to learn this time, we are on the right track. We are surrounded by some pretty awesome people.

Good-Luck on getting those 30 hubs launched and on achieving your goals!

I have also added your hub-log to my hub-log.

@Money Glitch, Patty, and Boomer, thank you so much for stopping by and giving me that much needed boost! I have found my first trick to staying focussed is staying pumped! I have made various song lists on YouTube for that very reason!

I am trying to catch up on the 60dc hub logs as i kind of got a late start on the challenge. But, I am so excited to see another PETA person on the team! I look forward to working on the 60dc team together and learning all that we can!

Hey K9keystrokes! I think I may have missed your hub, I read so many today! Watch your back on the PETA, I got a comment today that referenced an article against PETA from 2002! I allowed it just to show anyone that the news was old and irrelevant. Definitely check out any links if your get one also.

Losing a job is tough, one of the most stressful things any person can go through.

I am glad to hear that you are giving the challenge a second chance. There are a lot of great people to learn from, and I think that if you take a step back, just take one day at a time, or even a couple hours at a time, and focus on what you need to do for that particular day, you will find that you have all the skills necessary to do what you need to do.

The biggest thing to remember is that nothing is unfixable. Just because you publish a hub doesn't mean you can't correct, change, or reorder it. Go for it! :)

Lakeeriesartists, I can't wait to get under weigh reading your hubs, I am from Youngstown, Ohio, so you are in my old stomping grounds. I almost drowned in Lake Erie, two or three times. Wicked Undertow!

Faybe, I am looking forward to reading your hubs on human trafficing. This is one of those subjects that after you read about, puts everything in perspective. Maybe our problems aren't so bad... glad you decided to join.

Faybe Bay profile image

Faybe Bay 6 years ago from Florida Author

Thank you Johnyater, the Human Trafficking stuff is really hard to write about because it gets me so down, but this time around I am hoping to use the challenge to really promote these hubs. I have several already and that is something that made me feel bad, they got no traffic to speak of. Now they are, so that's a good thing.

I will temper those hubs with some more entertaining hubs, and in the end hope to make a sort of circle, where the entertainment industry crosses the line into health, diet, emotional growth and self help, as well as the Human Trafficking and PETA hubs. In this way I expect they will all get more traffic.

Good luck in all that you are doing Faybe, I am sure you will make it this time. There are a couple of us this time around in the challenge who have just lost jobs also, it is a very stressful time.

Faybe Bay profile image

Faybe Bay 6 years ago from Florida Author

Hi LeanMan, I know a lot of us are in the same boat! I just figured it's the best time to write. I never expected the anxiety to get as bad as it did. I know you'll do well in the challenge.

Sufidreamer profile image

You are going to be fine, Faybe - just keep plugging away and things will fall in to place. You write well, so success will follow - it is just a matter of confidence, something that increases with practice. The more you write, the easier it becomes :)

Faybe Bay profile image

Faybe Bay 6 years ago from Florida Author

Thank you Sufidreamer! That means a lot to me coming from a professional like yourself. I needed the boost! I am excited this time, and have started many hubs I haven't published yet! I understand now why people will work on more than one hub at a time, it cuts the research time and means you don't have to cover the same ground multiple times. Hopefully this works out for me in the end, lol! I used to be more concerned with when and how the money and traffic would find me. Now I am more concerned with production. As you say, the rest will fall into place.
