A Woodland Hike in Search of HubNuggets
We're allergic to "Holidays..."
After a series of exciting though potentially perilous adventures, the HubNuggets Team was ready for a rest. Monday found them gathered in the Minna Street offices, making plans for the coming HubNuggets round-up hub.
"Let's just stay home and work this week," suggested ladyjane1.
"I'm with you," said ripplemaker. "I don't think I could stand another adventure so soon after our last one. Couldn't we just do the HubNuggets from home this week?"
"Come on over to my place," Enelle Lamb offered. "We can go for a quiet stroll at Golden Ears Provincial Park - it's only a short drive, and the trails are so beautiful and peaceful. Then we can work on the HubNuggets nominations in the afternoon, and have a nice, quiet, barbeque supper in my backyard. It will be a perfectly restful day."
A nice, quiet walk in the woods...
"I'm all over that," said RedElf. "A gentle stroll through serene forest glades sounds like a perfect antidote to our usual adventures."
"...but what about our readers?" KoffeeKlatch Gals' cup and saucer clattered agitatedly. "They expect a ripping good yarn every week. They count on us to have an exciting adventure to recount while we present the HubNuggets nominees. We can't disappoint everyone!"
"Calm yourself, Gal - I'm sure everyone will understand," said Patty Inglish MS. "Shady forest glades sound very good, given the hot summer temperatures in Ohio right now."
"I've just sent Enelle's location to your cell phones, along with a map to Golden Ears, so we should all get there without any trouble," said Jason Menayan. "Don't you just love technology?"
"Speaking of Technology," chorused Maddie Ruud and Simone Smith, "let's take a look at our nominees in that category!"

Is this trip going to be expensive?
After reading the nominees' articles in Technology, the team gathered round Patty's computer to plan their trip.
"This spread-sheet program is great, Patty," said ripplemaker. "We can work out our menus for lunch and the barbecue, set up travel routes, do up our grocery shopping lists and - we can even plan what to pack for the hike!"
"Wow, what a wonderful way to keep track of your spending. I need a copy of this so I can manage my household accounts more easily," said Gal.
"Good idea," said RedElf. "I've just been checking out home-owners' and car insurance, and wondering if I should raise the deductible on our vehicles."
"...and I'm meeting with my financial adviser tomorrow," said ladyjane1. "It's a good idea to know where you stand, financially."
"What a coincidence," remarked Enelle. "Our next category this week is Personal Finance. Let's see if the nominees have any tips or advice for us."

The HubNuggets Team
All's well that ends in a summer barbecue...
The team spent a happily uneventful day strolling along the peaceful mountain trails of Golden Ears Provincial Park. They marveled at the giant evergreens as they passed through shaded glens, basking in the dappled light and calm serenity of the ancient forest.
Everyone agreed the barbecue supper that evening was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
"Combining the barbecue with a party to christen your new patio was a wonderful idea, Enelle," said ladyjane1.
"A perfect idea," sighed ripplemaker. "I hope your neighbors won't mind the music."
"Not a chance," laughed Enelle. "We invited them all!"
Sure enough, people began arriving, setting up speakers for the band (several of Enelle's neighbors played in a local, excellent bluegrass group). In almost no time, the roadway was lined with long tables loaded with soft drinks, summer cocktails, and party munchies. ripplemaker's face painting and Gal's balloon animals proved to be a big hit with young and old alike.
The throng of happy party-goers spilled over into the usually quiet street, and the whole neighborhood was soon rocking out at the HubNuggets Team BBQ and Block Party. It promised to be a long, loud, and joyful night.
