The "30 Hubs in 30 Days Hub Challenge"

This is a great challenge for new and veteran Hubbers alike. I have been here for over 2 years now and I have yet to take the challenge! After some soul searching, I decided that 2012 was going to be the year that I step up my online writing a notch so that I can make some more money doing what I love best: Writing!

I decided to kill two birds with one stone.I am doing the challenge side by side with the current "Know It All Contest" The reasons for doing this are:

  • To Kill 2 Birds with 1 Stone
  • To Ensure that I will Finish the Challenge
  • To Increase my Revenue
  • To Polish my Writing Skills
  • Personal Reasons

By doing the challenge alongside the contest, I am able to answer questions in Hub form (such as this Hub itself) while gaining traffic, publishing more articles, and having a better chance at winning in the contest! I could go on and on with many other reasons for doing this, but I think you get the idea!

  • If you are signed up and approved for the various Earnings Programs on HubPages, Your Earnings Should Rise as a result of rising traffic!

So Why Not Join Me and Kill 2 Birds With 1 Stone!

I hope that after reading this article, I have inspired you to enter the Contest and start your 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge today!

There is a lot of fun whether you win or not (although winning is better!) If you walk away with nothing else, at least you can say that you entered the contest and did your best to write 30 Hubs in 30 Days. That in itself is enough reward.

If you would like to be added to the list of Hubbers taking the Hub Challenge on the left, leave me a comment or send me an e-mail with your HubPages Profile link. Let's Make HubPages History this month!

Good Luck!

JS--I'm doing the same thing. 30/30 challenge, plus I'm trying to create most of those hubs by answering questions for the know-it-all contest. Great hub. Maybe it will inspire other hubbers!

HOORAH! You do such a great job with the video submissions :) I loved your tongue twister at the end too...phew that sounded like it was hard to say. I am so proud of you and all the other Hubbers who are taking advantage of the 30/30 Challenge and the Contest at the same time. I am here to cheer you on!!!!!!!

I completed my challenge in January and that was enough to last a lifetime. I did hear how others are doing 10 hubs in 10 days which sounds more tempting. I'll try my best to post interesting questions and answers to help out! Wishing you lots of luck with your challenge! I'm rooting you on!

Count me in! I'm bird-killing right along with you and several others! Yes, I did do the 30/30 (in my first 30 days, actually), but there wasn't a button in your poll to say it was okay & I'd do it again. So I picked the 'never again,' choice. Just so others will know, it's not that bad, and you're right; it hones your skills in every way.

Voted up and useful.

Honestly, I have been collecting questions that I thought were "Hubworthy" and so far I have only come up with 10. So I do plan to complete at least those 10 in the next 30 days (counting the one I have published today).I have also been attempting to ask questions that might be "Hubworthy" so we'll see if that bears any fruit. Good luck to all in both the 30/30 challenge and the Know it All Contest.

I don't have the time to complete 30 hubs in 30 days right now - have never done it. I wrote a lot more often when I first signed up and even then I wrote about 17 hubs a month.

For one thing, there is a three-day period this coming week when I'm going to be gone day and night for the vocal section of the music festival I'm in as vocal coordinator. The small amount of time I'm home my cat will want Amy attention. But I will certainly be trying the contest when I can - either answering or asking.

Hey JS Matthew! Good luck on your 30 in 30! I've done it once but planned on doing it again. Since I did mine really at the beginning of my Hubbing I can say that it did all those things you said it would. Increased my traffic, followers, earnings and all that stuff. Maybe one day I'll get the time to do another 30 in 30! Again, Good Luck! Looking forward to reading your Hubs!

Great Hub. Love the shirt and the original video. I am very excited about the new video Hub aspect. I've tried it twice but due to the political environment and the increase of assignments by my newspaper as well as my health recently, I have just been drained but I love the concept and the challenge. You always have interesting Hubs. Keep up the good work. I am going to try and do the challenge again in June after the primaries calm down. I voted UP mostly across. Lee

I'm also doing the 30 hubs in 30 days challenge, but I'm not answering questions. I've considered that option but most of the questions I've seen posted on Hub Pages simply didn't inspire me enough to write a full hub about them. And, writing a 3-4 line answer and trying to call it a hub doesn't work!

Good luck with your challenge!

I have never done 30 of 30 hubs. But in November, I submitted 25 hubs for the creative writing contest. In this month, I have challenged myself, to do a 20 part interview series.

I'm looking forward to do 30 of 30 in near future. The only fear I have is about the internet connection, because it so often crashes in Nepal.

I just finished the 30 days hub challenge, but I'm thinking of doing it again now that I have more followers because of the reasons listed above in gaining traffic. @dwachira: Hello! The HubPages 30/30 Challenge is quite a challenge! Some have even done 100 Hubs in 30 Days! As for me, I waited a few years until I felt ready and I think I made the right choice. Take your time learning the ropes and you will know when the time is right for you! I appreciate your comment, vote and for sharing! Good luck when you attempt the challenge!

@WhydThatHappen: Hello there! Wow, you are ambitious! I am not sure if or when I will do the challenge again but I know some people who have done it a few times. It can be difficult if you are doing research and trying to create 500+ word articles-at least it was for me! Traffic, comments and new followers do come from the challenge though. When I did the 30/30 I experienced my highest monthly earnings too!

Next time you do the challenge, consider posting your article links in the Official 30/30 Challenge Forum (http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/18049) and consider finding like-minded people on your social networks that may support you and share your articles. If you haven't checked out my article about sharing yet, you can find it here: http://hubpages.com/t/2d2dfb

Hi JS, thank you for your encouragement. I will definitely take you up on your offer I am sure. I currently have a work in progress hub (I started yesterday) and I am trying to implement what I am learning before I publish it. If I can get it close to what is recommended hopefully with enough practice I can stare refining the art of creating stellar hubs (I read that in the help files). Your advice with the 30 day challenge is logical when refining so once my first hub is out I may just try it. Depends on the constructive criticism I hope to receive from you and other established hubbers. Thanks again!

J.S.Matthew profile image

J.S.Matthew 4 years ago from Massachusetts, USA Author

Hello again JackyDragon! I think learning while you publish is a great idea. You will never know everything but you sure can learn a lot from other Hubbers as well as the HubPages Learning Center. If you have an idea for a Hub, start writing it! You can always go back and edit, revise and add more content. The key is to set some goals and just keep writing and revising all while researching and learning.

It took me over 2 years to feel ready to take the 30/30 Challenge. I just wasn't ready. When you are ready, you'll know! If you feel like you can do this Challenge, I say, Go for it!

Some Hubs take off right away and other Hubs, no matter how good they are, sometimes don't take off as we expect or as we hope. No worries! Just keep writing. If you keep going the world will find you! Another thing to consider is that there are 2 basic types of traffic; HubPages Traffic and Internet/Search Traffic.

HubPages traffic is where people on HP stop by, comment, maybe vote up and share. It makes us feel good. Internet or search traffic is the ultimate goal. We are creating Hubs for the world, not just for HubPages. If you can rank your Hub article on the first page of a Google Search, that is how you can become successful with earnings. Search engine queries where our Hubs are on the top of the first page is where the money is.

I have some Hubs with almost no comments but I get a lot of hits every day from the search engines. Many of my "popular" Hubs get a lot of HP traffic and comments but don't make much in earnings. Over time, you will figure it out! It is a constant learning process and the internet changes all the time. Just write one article at a time, always keep learning and over time you will see success. This is not a get rich quick scheme!

When you decide that you are ready for the 30/30 Challenge, I wish you the best of luck and success! I appreciate all your comments and I look forward to the future.

Happy Hubbing!

Hi J.S. Matthew, I just completed a 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge that I created for myself. It seems that these types of challenges as well as higher traffic on HubPages peaked about 2 years ago, but I decided it was time for me to take the challenge. I started on 12/5/14 and crossed the finish line yesterday, 1/5/15. :-)

I'm hoping that I might inspire others with my writing challenge. I created a hub to track my progress listing all my hubs, and for my 30th Hub, I reported my progress, what I have learned, listed stats and activity and also shared an interested video called The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale.. Have you heard of it?

I don't think I'm allowed to list my links here but I would love it if you visited my Hub Challenge hub. I think we experienced some of the same progress during our challenge.

I wish there were still contests on HubPages, but it seems that a lot of changes are in the works. In the meantime, I have joined some other writing groups outside of HubPages and I'm happy to say that I won 2 short story contests in 2014 so I am thrilled about that.

Good luck to you in your writing, and Happy New Year.

Hello easylearningweb! Sorry for taking so long to respond. I have been busy offline the last few months. Congratulations on completing the 30/30 Challenge! That is quite a feat! Also it is a great way to start the New Year!

Like you I also documented my journey through the challenge. Once you complete it you feel different, in a positive way! You feel a sense of accomplishment. To this day I don't think I would do it again!

As for the video, "The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale", am am not familiar with it; could you send a link here in the comments please? Also, feel free to send a link to your 30th Hub documenting your experiences in the Challenge.

I also miss the contests on HubPages. I won 2 prizes in the past and would love to try again! I am sure they will have other contests in the future. We'll just have to keep our eyes pealed.

Congratulations on all your accomplishments! Keep up the good work and never stop writing! Best of success in 2015!

Hey J.S. Matthew,

You are right! I felt and still feel totally different in a good way after completing the challenge. It was like I climbed or mountain or ran a big race. What a great feeling of accomplishment! Some endorphins were definitely released.

Since then I started working on much bigger writing projects and I'm writing a lot of short stories too.

Here is the link to the forum with my challenge experience:

Also, here is the link to the hub with the  video for the Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale, and below that is the link to the you tube video, it is quite powerful and I would highly recommend it!
