Celebrating 100 Hubs - A Big Thank You to my Followers
Thank you for joining me in my celebration.
Twelve months and 100 hubs on, the little girl with a ribbon in her hair has grown up!
When I joined Hubpages I cropped an old black and white photograph I used in my first photo restoration hub, of me when I was 5 years old for my profile picture.
I produce movies on DVD for a living so I simply became Movie Master.
Lesley went incognito!
It was my daughter Cloverleaf who persuaded me to join Hubpages.
As I originally only intended to write a couple of articles, we could see no reason for announcing we were related.
Then I met YOU - my reader!
I was totally blown away by the comments I received on my first couple of hubs.
They were caring, personal, positive and encouraging and these people wanted to ‘follow’ me!
Now I wanted to meet you and I started reading your hubs, I find you to be talented, gifted and inspirational writers and I started following you.
Initially, writing on Hubpages I felt out of my depth, but the desire to become a part of the community, helped me overcome my shyness and gave me some confidence to continue writing.
Feeling a little more confident and actually a bit ‘pumped up’ I wondered what else I could write about.
I am no expert gardener but I do enjoy gardening and decided to write some gardening hubs.
When I joined Hubpages I hadn't considered being a part of a community, but soon I began to feel a sense of belonging and I was making friends.
I read articles that made me both laugh and cry, not only was I finding new recipes, learning new crafts and reading educational articles, I had a glimpse of other peoples lives, I could relate to much of what I read and was inspired by their words.
Now I wanted to write about more than factual topics, suddenly the gates were opened and out poured a release of emotions.
The words came easily and I wrote a poem about the heartache of my Dad who has suffered several strokes and is in a nursing home now. I dedicated a hub to him on Autumn and put the photos on a digital photo frame to show him in the home.
To my amazement I found myself writing more about my personal life and family.
Cloverleaf completed the 30 hubs in 30 days challenge, I was so proud of her I wrote The Frog that became Cloverleaf, suddenly the barriers were down and I wanted to tell everyone she was my daughter!
I wrote about a very emotional time in my life after bereavement, called Me and Claude Monet - My Story, I hoped it would help and inspire others who had experienced losing a loved one.
I decided I wanted to share our love story and wrote I Married my Childhood Sweetheart - 30 Years Later.
This was followed by the love of Major My Loyal Friend and Companion.
I am a very keen photographer, I absolutely love taking photos of nature - some have described it as an obsession!
Hubpages gives me the opportunity to share my photos with you, and that has given me the purpose and motivation to further develop my photography skills.
I can not even begin to describe the pleasure I feel, in reading the wonderful complimentary comments you leave on my hubs.
Thank you to all of my readers, both my followers who leave comments and my silent followers, I appreciate every single one of you.
You are the reason I am still here twelve months on and have written 100 hubs.
It was an honour recently to be interviewed by Vinaya Ghimire, the wonderful comments left by readers were an emotional read for me.
What an enormous compliment, to be referred to as a writer and photographer by Vinaya and my friends and followers.
Thank you Vinaya for portraying me as the grown up, that the little girl with a ribbon in her hair always wanted to be.
Thank you also to CloudExplorer for writing An Amazing Hubber but even more Amazing Person - Movie Master hit 100 Hubs
