Celebrating My First Year in HubPages
Happy One Year HP Anniversary to me!
Wow! I can’t believe I’m celebrating my first year here in HubPages. Seems like only yesterday when I followed a link to HP and signed up. I just thought I just write whatever I want, whenever I want and enjoy my time here.
A year later, I have yet to change my mind. Oh sure, there
are times I read hubs about ‘controversial’ subjects or skim through a ‘hot’
thread in the politics and issues forum and in the religion and beliefs forum.
But I learned to take them all in stride. Or better yet, I’ve learned to
curtail my need to respond in kind in these topics. Instead, I just sit back and relax and watch the fireworks.
Well, enough about that. I actually wanted to write this hub as a ‘historical’ hub. Meaning I just want to put in one hub my history here in Hubpages, kind of like going down the memory lane (with links of course). I hope you’ll join me in this trip.
Just some of the screen shots I've taken from HP
Hubs
My first hub…I published my first hub on June 28, 2009. It was all about some general tips for saving money.
My first comment…came through my hub in Amanpulo, an island – paradise here in my country.
My 10th hub… was published on the 10th of July. It was all about my strategies for effective teaching. So between my first day up to this day, I was a very busy girl, publishing hubs like once a day.
My 50th hub was all about My 8 HubPages Resolutions and this went out on the 21st of September.
I planned to publish my 100th hub by the end of 2009. Unfortunately, that was not the case. But I did get my 100th hub published on Jan. 30, 2010 and the topic? My tribute to my father who suddenly died three years ago.
Now I’m on my 110th hub. My goal is to reach 200 hubs by the end of this year and reach 300 hubs by the end of 2011. Hope I’ll get there.
Hubber Score, Hub Score and Hub Views
I’ve read it countless of times in the forums – don’t mind your hubber score too much. Honestly, I didn’t. But I was sure glad when I reached a hubber score of 100 like hmmmm, two months after I joined HubPages. And I was really flattered to see that score. My good hubber friend – General Howitzer kindly announced that occasion in the forums.
As for the hub that got the 100 score? It was about the effects of the recession in the Philippines. I didn’t expect that hub to hit that score and frankly speaking, I don’t know why. But I’m thankful that it did.
I’ve seen my hubber score and the scores of several of my hubs hit 100 a couple of times and each time, I was really glad to see them there. Believe me when I say I’m not obsessed with scores but it always feels nice to see a high score on my screen whenever I log in.
As for the Hub Views, I hit 10,000 sometime in September (I
think). Now I’m 300 views short of hitting my first 100,000 views. My hub with the most hub views? Here it is.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll get there by the end of this month. I’m also hoping to get an average daily view of 700 to 800 by the end of this year, on track for another 100,000 views by December 31, 2009.

Fans / Followers
I’m ashamed to say I don’t remember who my first fan was. I think it’s a toss up between dawei888 and Chuck. But I do remember who my 100th follower was and it was fierycj (I do miss that guy).
The first hubber I followed? Again I have to bow my head in
shame. I can’t remember anymore! I think it was Chuck. Or was it PGrundy (who’s
no longer here by the way)? Or Sufidreamer? Or perhaps it was dawei888? Oh well.
Whoever my first fan / follower was or the first hubber I fanned / followed, I have seen and read the hubs of some great writers here and I’m glad I’ve gotten to know them. Here’s a link where you can see who these hubbers are.
Adsense Earnings
I’m really not earning that much in Adsense or Amazon but having some earnings is better than having none at all. And since the exchange rate here is very high (like 45:1), the $100 payout is really a big deal for me.
I reached the $100 payout threshold in Adsense in December 2009, December 10 to be exact. Despite worries that I will not be able to receive it, the check arrived in February 2010. As of the date of the writing of this hub, I’m $0.52 short of hitting my next payout.
Wouldn’t it be great if I hit my second $100 payout and my 100,000 hub views exactly 1 year after I published my 1st hub?
And wouldn’t it be great if I hit my 3rd payout by the end of this year? Or reach Adsense earnings of like $2 per day?
I'm certainly keeping my fingers crossed. Until then, thank you very much for reading this hub of mine. Thank you HubPages for this wonderful first year experience. Here's to my second year in HubPages.
