How To Get More Ebay Affiliate Sales On Hubpages

Updated on April 27, 2009

Generating more income with the Ebay Affiliate program on Hubpages takes a little more time when creating your hubpages, but in the long run can be beneficial to increasing your Hubpages earnings. The Ebay Affiliate program offers the tools necessary to see not only what hubs are making Ebay affiliate sales, but what types of Ebay items are selling the best.

It is important to narrow down the ebay auctions that are displayed on your Hubpages to display highly relevant products that are related to your topic choice on your Hubpages article.

How To Choose Specific Ebay Items To Sell Through Hubpages

In the Ebay capsule the author is given a search field that uses keywords to narrow down the ebay results. This step is crucial to getting the very best targeted results to promote through your hubpages.

The Ebay capsule automatically puts your hub title in the search field. Delete this out. Start using a keyword for your hub. For example we will use a older hub of mine titled Frugal Ways: Make Foam Soap Homemade For Pennies This hub was written to give the breakdown of home much a person could save using foam soap dispensers. For my Ebay capsules, I have turned this hub into a great money maker by focusing on promoting the Foam Soap Dispenser through ebay auctions.

Getting More Targeted Ebay Affiliate Results

If you look to the above to the right, the ebay capsule shows a very broad range of results for my keyword foam soap dispenser. I want my ebay results to appeal to the reader that would be interested in buying just one, or a few household foam soap dispensers, the type that would sit next to the sink on the counter. My results are not targeted enough and very easily can be overlooked completely.

To get more targeted results and a better chance of ebay affiliate sales I wanted to research what kind of results I was getting. I switched the ebay capsule to show 6 results so that I could better see what I was showing. I found that using my keyword foam soap dispenser was gathering too many results for industrial/business style dispensers. To correct this I changed my keyword search term to foam soap pump.

The results were better, but it was still displaying results that were unwanted. To fix this I will narrow down the keyword results using the minus/dash key. I left in foam soap pump, and then for every keyword that was coming up in the ebay capsule that would lead to other items then what I wanted to sell, I would put a dash right before the word. It looked like this.

foam soap pump -automatic -touchless -paper -kimberly -recipe -50 -100 -organic

Using Ebay Affiliate Information To Get Better Results

When signed in to check Ebay earnings, Ebay affiliate program offers tools to see what items are being clicked through on your hubpages, and what items are selling. 1. Log into Ebay Affiliate Website
  2. Click on the REPORTS tab
  3. Click the Transaction Download tab
  4. Choose to open results either to see which events resulted in a sale, or all events.
  5. Open in excel for easiest viewing
  6. Now you can see what Hubpages are gathering sales as well as what the sales are for using the Ebay transaction ID.

Getting More Ebay Sales

Using these results you can get a very good idea of not only which of your hubpages hubs are performing well using the Ebay Affiliate program, but what types of items are being purchased through your hubs. When you see trends for the types of purchases on specific hubs, narrow down your results to promote these ones more.

Now, For hubs that aren't gathering any clickthroughs to ebay auctions, or for ones that are getting clickthroughs, but the sale isn't being made. Try something new, anaylze what types of items are on your page and consider using the tips I showed above to narrow down the results, or try selling something different.

Check your sales and click throughs monthly to get a good idea what you can work on to do better.
