Interview: Ruby Fuller

Nurse Ruby
Nurse Ruby | Source

Meet Ruby ....

Ruby Fuller, also known as Always Exploring, is a friend I would love to sit and have coffee with at a small town cafe.

Oh wait! I do visit with Ruby most every day at Emerald Wells Cafe.

I feel as though we are kindred spirits Also a nurse, Ruby is known for her compassionate and nurturing manner in HubVille. She also has a charming sense of humor and excellent taste in music of all genres.

Ruby writes with her heart. She feels life so deeply that the reader is quickly swept into the meaning and imagery of her words.

Over the months that we have been friends, I have watched Ruby unfold into a blossoming and fragrant flower. To me, she has found her voice and passion in this most creative outlet called writing.

After you read this interview, I invite you to take a trip to some of her hubs. You will quickly learn why I love our jewel of a Ruby...!

The times that I feel saddest is ....

thinking about my two sisters who have passed away, wishing I had one more day to tell them how much I loved them. I don't think I told them enough, also, I was always in a hurry to have everything perfect in my home and life, I forgot to stop and smell the roses.

Something I’d like to teach others

Hummmm..That's a difficult one. I guess I would like to teach the young Mothers that life passes so quickly and the little one will soon be gone from the nest, so teach them humility and to love all people regardless of race or gender preference and most specifically there is a God and he loves everyone.

My secret passion, my dream job.

My secret passion is to live on a plantation, be Scarlett O'Hara and make passionate love with Rhett Butler. My dream job would be nursing. I always dreamed of being a nurse when I was a little girl, and I fulfilled that dream, loved every moment of it.

Most hated gift I ever gave someone...

I wanted my son to be able to play an instrument in the school band so I bought him a trombone and a set of drums. He disliked the trombone with a passion but loved the drums. I hated the drums, quickly moving him to the basement.

The gift I could have done without....

My husband bought me a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. When in reality I was hoping for a small box to unwrap, finding a beautiful diamond or a shiny gold bracelet.

If you peeked in my junk drawer you'd be surprised to find.....

500 keys. I have no idea what they're for, but I keep them, just in case...

My date from Hades....

I went out with this person, we went to a movie, first date. He asked me to marry him. I told him NO, the next day my stepfather went to the mailbox and retrieved a small box, inside was a wedding ring! Can you imagine? I was sixteen.

My worst/or funniest vacation story...

We went to the Bahamas Islands after spending a week in Miami. It was a cloudy day. I spent the entire day at the pool. I had the worst sunburn of my life. We left the next day for the Islands. I was in so much pain I couldn't attend a luau, my best friend was lots of ice.

A life goal on my bucket list ...

contentment

What I most look for in a friend...

Unconditional love and respect.

Something I will never part with...

My picture albums. So many wonderful memories of the good times. Sigh

Ruby - forever young
Ruby - forever young | Source

A life lesson I will never forget ...

I married my second husband without knowing his heart. His hatred of people of color broke my heart..

The worst part of getting older...

Gray hair, I hate it. Why must our hair change? We're still the same inside. So as long as ' Nice and easy' is sold, they have a customer...

A writing lesson I learned the hard way.....

When I first joined Hubpages, I had this desire to write poetry. I wrote a poem (It was no masterpiece. ) A hubber came to visit and said, "Nice poem, the rhyming is not good” ) I almost quit, but something inside me got hostile and I wrote another one, he came back to visit and said, " better " HaHa

My favorite movie and why....

My favorite movie is ' Gone with the Wind ' I went to see it when I was a teen. I fell in love with Clark Gable and I don't think I’ve ever gotten over it. I love old classic movies and when I see him I have that feeling. I would never have treated him badly like Scarlett did. Hee

What subjects / genres do you enjoy reading about?....

I love the Emerald Wells Café Series by mckbirdbks. I love Vincent Moore's poetry. I love drbj's interviews, plus many more....

What would be a subject / genres that you would like to read more about?

I love to read hubs about other cultures, Vinaya Ghimire, Ruchira and Sofs are wonderful. I love Dusty(50-Caliber)'s hubs about his life raising animals.

I must say that I miss Doug Turner's poetry. He hasn't been around for awhile. The one I really miss is Fay Paxton's hubs on politics. She is one smart cookie,

Oh and I love Eddy (eiddwen). Martie Coetser said that we are cyber friends and I could not agree more!

Ruby bought this picture of Elvis the day he died and cried all day.

What songs make you want to pack up and leave the party ....?

I have always loved George Jones..I would pack up and go with him anyplace. Hee I also love Michael Jackson and my man Elvis and I can't forget Elton John. There are many more, Tina Turner, Sammy Davis, Vince Gill. I could go on forever.

Me too, Ruby ... I got so lost in this list, as these are some of the best musical artists of all times. I selected two from this list and hope you enjoy them.

Music has been my companion throughout my life. My Mother loved music; our radio was never turned off.

George Jones: Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town

Thank you, Ruby....

With no difficulty at all, I selected this rendition of "Respect" to dedicate to you, Ruby ,in keeping with The Supremes theme in the series

What, you wanna hear Tina Turner's version as well? You don't have to twist my arm, girlfriend!

You are a role model of decency and dignity to all of us. Thank you for sharing yourself with us, my dear friend. ♥ Maria

Fabulous interview! What a sense of humor and awesome outlook on life. I laughed out loud at the drawer full of keys, the vacuum cleaner and the date from Hades! Thank you Ruby and Maria for the entertaining and insightful hub!

Mar,

The spy beat me here, lol!!! Great minds thinking alike? (Wink!)

I lovedddddddd reading Ruby's information! LHM!! She's got nearly all of my favs as her own!

There again with the great minds thing, and great taste added to it!

She has my absolute sympathy being married to a racist. It would be a terrible thing to fall in love with someone only to later realize they had such a foul thing living in their heart.

As for music ... if I were around, she'd send me to the basement. I play drums too, and nearly every drummer I know plays them better than me.

I can also sympathize with the hair color change that comes along for at least most of us. Mine is going from high-blonde to medium brown and every time I get in front of the mirror these days, I wonder who it is I'm looking at, and what have they done to my hair?? I'm estimating grey hair can cause the same angst and perplexion ....

Now I have to go read the two hubs Ruby mentioned about why some women are allowed to conceive (I've wondered the same thing myself) and the other about her nephew. I believe they'll both be sad stories but about people whose stories deserve to be told.

My compliments again, Mar. A beautiful introduction to a wonderfully talented lady.

Great interview of Ruby a.k.a. Always Exploring. I love her writing and she is always exploring to encourage others. I love what she wants to teach others and her dream job as well. Her bucket list is spot on with mine! What a very beautfiul reveal of Ruby, and I am so glad she did not leave HP after that first terrible comment!!! That, in an of itself, is very inspirational. I just meet Dusty a.k.a 50 Caliber, and I too just love his stories of his awesome life. Ruby is one hubber who is very involved in the hubbing community. Voted Way UP In His Love, Faith Reaper

Maria....Always happy to attend your parties where we socialize and get to know one another. I have read "always exploring," over the past 14 months and know Ruby as an excellent writer, with heart and soul...not to mention a fine sense of humor.

These interview hubs have become a serious "high light," Maria. I look forward to each one.

Ruby is such a fun loving soul. Her presence 'always' lights up the Cafe. Her writing encompasses far reaching deeps of emotion. I will 'always' remember her poem, 'A poem, Another adventure, Westward bound'.

I jusr looked over she work listed on Hubpages. She puts such care and effort into the layouts. She is an artist, getting her due.

Always Exploring aka Ruby is one of my first and very special friends in Hubland. I actually call her my twin. Since the beginning I felt connected to her. I honestly believe that human emotions somehow bond humans in a fourth dimension where they are rewarded with the ability to empathize with others. I've seen Ruby grown into the fine poet she is today. She never fails to deliver a heart-touching message.

Maria and Ruby, here's to another excellent interview!

Another stupendous interview. So glad to read more about our friend Ruby. The keys have me laughing. I used to move a drawer full of keys around the country and finally threw them out just a year or two ago. I have no idea what they were for and one, I know was from an apartment I had when 18.

Aye Maria, I see I've gotten behind in my reading but I caught on at a perfect space in time!

Ms. Ruby is one of my favorite people, I'm not sure if I ever picked up on her being a Nurse, but if I needed a nurse she would be a blessing to have.

I do believe beyond any doubt that we are not of a mistake in meeting, any of us. We have by design a spiritual coarse that out of millions we meet and I seem to feel an enrichment with those that draw me near.

I find often there are seemingly things that don't matter, but I believe they do. I have ring after ring of keys that go to something, and I can't toss them 'cuz there are boxes of locks in the shop and the keys that are for vehicles are often interchangeable, I bought a hard top for my jeep and full doors. It had no keys, but low out of my selection there were 4 keys from the 80's and a 64 Chevrolet that worked on all.

I listen to music as we did back when there was no TV, and my preference is back ground music from an old tube type Radio, called "Radideo" that is on 24/365. I often get a song that pops into my mind as I read, and I don't know why any particular song pops up, but I got this one as I read:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=2...

A song that I've not heard in 30 plus years, the same artist who "got a brand new roller skate key" but it was after listening to this that it popped up that it was Melanie that did both songs.

I like George Jones and this is the first that I ever heard perform the song "Ruby" other than Kenny Rodgers and I like it much better done by George.

I spose I need to sit and think about a hub to write of an adventure with my critters, we go on so many I need to pick one where it went so wrong it was funny a week later and there are plenty of tales of the rescue dogs that are dumped on the back dirt roads that pull some funny stunts as they get washed up and Vet checked with shots and neutering.

Ms Ruby is a gemstone with a good heart and we share a common path that was akin to crossing a rope bridge over a gorge of stone and at the mid point the ropes were cut Leaving us to climb out wondering what had happened.

I look at time on the counters and see numbers from none to three years as I approach my 4th year and out of the sampling of 5 people, I was surprised as to the numbers of 1 year the person seems like Ms. Ruby, that I have known them forever. It dents my Faith into thinking perhaps we are reincarnated to move on in relations with certain folks. In truth, my faith tells me that our journey was written from the beginning of time it's self, that means that there are carvings in my heart for all who give me the feeling that we are "age old companions" that set aside different Ideas and focus on the commonality of the great commandment, "Love one as you would want treated the same" and in the end the place prepared for us is not of the flesh but of the Spirit where we will all meet up in this practice session called life, as it leads us to life eternal to be spent in

Peace, Love and Understanding,

May the Blessings Be,

dust

Yes, Ruby is a jewel in HubVille, and her kind and caring heart is very much appreciated.

It was great learning more things about her in this wonderful interview.

Ah, another nurse who imagined herself as Scarlet O'Hara and it sounded like she had some Scarlet in her when I read about the first date proposal and wedding ring offer that she had at age 16!

She is also so supportive and considerate of others.

Am on my way to read the hub she wrote about her nephew.

Maria, your interviews are so much fun. How wonderful it is to get to know our hub friends in a personal way. I swear - you're better than Oprah!

Ruby is a favorite for me. An interview like this gives us a chance to express our love and appreciation. You are providing a way for hubbers to take a peek in to the heart and soul of their favorite writers.

I laughed out loud at the "500 keys in the drawer".

"She feels life so deeply that the reader is quickly swept into the meaning and imagery of her words. " You've managed to say it all with this marvelous line.

And I don't think I've ever told you what a beautiful name you have. "Maria." I just love saying it! Thanks so much and voted up clear across and sharing everywhere!

What more can I add here about this gem of a writer/poet. She took my heart a couple of years ago with her kindness and friendship. At first she felt uncomfortable about penning her thoughts in poetic form. However once she jumped in with both feet, her poetry bloomed and the scent of her perfume lingers with every scribe.

Ruby is one of the finest people in the Hubs, her gifts are magnificent. She has acquired many friends here and I could never see a day go by without her penning and sharing her love for her friends, her home, her music and her love of life itself. Ruby I am truly honoured to know you and share both our work together.

Thank you my poet for a mention in this very informative interview. Maria is an expert interviewer and she again chose one of the most giving ladies to do that with. BTW your taste in music is the same as mine. George and the King two of my favs indeed. I relate to the both of them.

Wow! What a great interview! As I've come to know Ruby....I can see her so clearly in this interview! Ruby, you are a woman who lives in and loves fantasy; a life of magic and experience! It's all over this interview and in your writing. I'm so sorry about your yearning for your sisters..I always wished I'd had a sister..I can only imagine the feeling of loss and missing them. I agree w/ you about Scarlet O'Hara...I love that movie, that time and , of course, THAT MAN! Yikes! Guess what? This year, I'm going to a Halloween party as......Scarlet O'Hara...hey! We're STILL on the same page. Love the interview, the interviewee and the interviewer!!

Sweet...Ruby is one of my favorite people here and I would love to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with her. I knew some of her past history, but there were several new things I've learned.

Great job in your series, Maria. Wonderful idea-Up/I/B

Maria my sweet Sista,

I had to stop back in and read this one about Ruby. What a sweetheart. And to read once more Dusty's musings about his time here with us. Loving what you wrote and about such a sweet "age old companion" like Always. Peg

Peggy,

Thanks for POKING your PRETTY head back here to PICK up even more reasons why Ruby PLEASES us.

I am thinking so much of Dusty today, especially as I believe he has visited EWC in Mike's latest.

Hoping you and Ruby both are having a peaceful night. Love, Maria

I mean no disrespect, Ruby...but if Dusty can show up at the finale of EWC...I believe in my heart he just heard you say thank you...

I loved Dusty's cool taste in a variety of music...and his honesty when something "didn't grab him."

He knew how all us chicks felt about him! Love, Maria
