Helpful Health Hubs Contest
The Helpful Health Hubs Contest starts tomorrow (even though it's actually March 1st here in Australia today the contest is in PT time) and I've decided to see if I can do it.
I remember last time I did the 30 hubs in 30 days challenge and it was a lot of fun and I made some pretty sweet cash to boot (from affiliate sales, adsense and so forth). So that means another 30 hubs in 30 days but this time I have a set topic to do.
I'll probably just do one hub per day (not three) because I don't want to over commit myself - I mean I am 33 weeks pregnant and still have to look after a 3 year old, clean the house, look for a new place to live (yes we finally sold our house!) and try and get some rest as well - phew just writing everything I need to do in the next few weeks makes me tired.
So be nice if I miss a day. I'll try my best not to, but real life can get crazy sometimes.
Like I did with the 30 hubs challenge, I'll list all my health contest hubs on this page so you can check them out if you like (and I'll be able to give a backlink to them from here - come on you know the tricks).
I don't expect to win any prizes, in fact I'm not even really doing it for the prizes, but I will be monetising my hubs with clickbank, adsense, amazon and other affiliate sites (not all of them on the one hub obviously) to try and increase my income.
Since I'm a fan of SEO I'll probably be checking rankings for my main keywords in the SERPS and backlinking those hubs that have good potential for some nice cash in my pocket.
Well that's it for now. I'll update this hub as I go along and let you know of my progress.
Let's have some fun hubbers ...
Week 1 Update
I'm getting increasingly tired and the house hunting is going very slowly so I'm starting to wonder if I want to continue the health hub contest after all. Normally I'd be raring to go, but I just don't have the energy right now being soooo pregnant (5 weeks to go and counting).
I did get all 7 hubs done for the Natural & Alternative Medicine week, you can see my hubs listed to the right here. I didn't win any $50 prizes though :( I'm not confident I'll get much done for the Diet & Weight Loss week however.
My dilemma now is whether I go back and add some backlinks to these hubs so that they start ranking well and spend my time doing that, or continue with the comp. I'm not sure I'll be able to do both.
Currently those hubs don't rank anywhere substantial in Google, although Yahoo has one in the #3 position. And I've had a measly 168 views total for them - not great.
The SEO'er in me is leaning towards building these hubs up and continuing with the other topics another time (outside the health hub contest). I know that means I'll be missing out on any random daily prizes, but I would rather get these hubs ranking well and earning money faster than waiting for a prize that I may or may not win.
I may still write a hub or two this week for the contest if I get time, but I'm not going to hold myself to it.
Backlinking my Week 1 hubs
My first strategy is just to write some articles with backlinks pointing at the hubs. I usually do between 1-3 articles per hub for best results. Yes, so that's what I'm going to go and do now. I'll let you know the results in next week's update.
Til then hubbers, take care.
My HubPages Health Contest Hubs - Week 2
- Healthy Diets for Pregnant Women
Pregnancy is an exciting time for all women, but it also comes with worries and concerns about your own health, the health of your baby and what you should be eating during this time. There are many foods...
Weeks 2 & 3
I know what you are thinking, where are your hubs for the contest? Well to be honest with you, I did kind of give up. But only because I didn't think I had a chance to win any of the prizes after the Hub staff outlined the types of hubs that were REALLY eligible (not just the criteria that was written on the contest page).
And well, that's all well and good, and they can do what they like to make hubpages the best web 2.0 site they like, but I really couldn't be bothered pouring my heart and soul into each and every hub I produced for the comp.
You see while I like writing, my real goal for being here is to make money. So my plan is to write each of the 7 hubs for that week's topics and then choose three of them that I can monetise with Clickbank (the rest will just have the usual Adsense & Amazon stuff).
I'll be backlinking those hubs and trying to increase their rankings to increase my traffic and hopefully make some sales with them.
I've done that with week 1's hubs and am currently backlinking the ones I think have the best potential. It is going slowly because I don't get much time these days at the computer (plus my tummy keeps banging on the desk).
I still plan on writing hubs on ALL of the health topics that were mentioned in the contest over the next few months because I think some of them could be some good earners, but I'll take my time and get them done when I'm ready (I'm just about to give birth people, so looking after a new baby might take some of my time too, just so you know).
Eventually it will all get done - albeit slower than I would probably like - but hey that's the beauty of making money online - you can do it at your own pace.
Anyway, just wanted to give you a heads up as to where I was.
