My Reason For Writing

I have one purpose for writing. I write only to serve others. This is my passion. This is why I write. There are many reasons to write for hubpages and we all have our own. For some, it may be a hobby and for others it may be to stretch their talent as a writer. I have met others who write only to make money. This is sad. While making extra income from writing is always exciting, and I regularly do, It's not my primary reason and never will be.

Learning From Other Fine Writers on Hubpages

Nothing excites me more than to learn something new. With every hub I read by one of Hubpages many remarkable writers, I learn and grow in leaps and bounds. My joy expands, jumping to another level of learning. I know I can grow with each hub I read when I have the right attitude. It's all up to me.

If I remain open, humble and teachable, I will continue to excel. If I close myself off to a particular hub, well, that's my loss.

So while I'm on the subject I would like to give a special thanks to all of you who have brought me knowledge and helped me to grow as a writer.

The comments I've received since I've been a writer here on hubpages have inspired and encouraged me. It's through inspiration that I do my best work.

Reasons to Write

Here are a few reasons we write:

  • It feels good
  • It's a creative challenge
  • Releases pent up emotions
  • Can be therapeutic
  • Helps to build your niche
  • Reduces perfectionism
  • Spreads your writing wings
  • Manifests success
  • Useful and helpful to others
  • The more we write the better we become
  • Writing opens up other dimensions

What are some of the reasons that you write? Please take a minute and share in the comments section below.

Thank you.

One of the perks of belonging to the "hubpage family" are the new friends that unexpectedly come your way . Establishing a following by taking the time to read and comment on other hubs has introduced me to some very special and wonderful people. I participate in forums, read nominated hubs as well as new ones and every now and then offer an answer posted in the question and answer forum.

I have learned about topics of interest that I would have otherwise not even considered reading about. Because I am a member of the Hubpages community, I have an opportunity to increase my knowledge and expand my interests as never before. And I don't even have to leave my computer to do this. What a blessing that is!

Increasing your writing skills

When I review some of my earlier hubs I can truly see how far I've come as a writer. Boy am I grateful for the chance to re-write and edit some of those articles. It's a great feeling to immediately see what needs to be changed to make the earlier hub a better read.

There's just no way I could have learned how to do this without the Hubpage Community. With the help of The Learning Center, Forums and stellar hubs offered by other writers, anyone can improve their writing skills.

I've learned the importance of 2 rules for increasing my own writing skills:

  1. Write with passion about what you know.
  2. Write something, even just a line, every day.

Mistakes writers make

On a Personal Note

Hubpages has also provided me with a way to deal with the loss of my son.

I have learned that as we go through the grieving process of separation from those we love, that we can gain strength by being involved in writing. A writer uses his own private emotions to create poetry and articles of interest.

With every hub I read I take away new information that is useful for me in some way. I have become a better writer and person.

So I thank you Hubpages for giving me so much. I'm happy to say that I am more fulfilled and educated. I can even be a contributor in my small way. Hubpages has brought out the best in me and it will in you too.

Very pleased to know that Hubpages has helped you in a variety of ways, that may have depressed a lot of other people on what you have gone through. A good way to look at it, and making money is one of them, even though I have not made any, I am still participating as active as I can in Hubpages. Good Hub!

Just keep sharing what your doing on the Hubs and commenting and you will see the comments come back to you. Don't for a minute worry or think about how much money you will or won't earn on here. Many have been on here for months and years and have made very little. Instead focus on why your really here but to share your story be a voice on hubs and it will come back to you a hundred fold. Peace and hugs.

You are certainly on the right track—but do check for those dollars. Surprisingly, they do come in. I think you hit many nails on the head here as to exactly why HubPages is a very interesting place for writers, and people alike to gather. It's so much more than just a place to write. :)

Hello Springboard - I took your advice and checked for my money - haven't made but a few pennies so far. I guess the message is, I'm missing something but not sure what. Traffic? Keywords? Audrey, you are an amazing and strong woman. I admire you for that. The sharing of the essence of your being is more than most people are capable of.

HubPages is indeed such a joy, and With a place like this, there should be no excuse for loneliness any more. Any person that get connected to this amazing place, just get scooped up by the community, and become part of this family.

You see, if it was not for this special spot, I would never have met you.

Listening to you talking about your son, I was just thinking, or rather pondering. These grandchildren of yours must be very special children, because they had been raised by a very special man, and an extraordinary granny.

May you find the new dimentions happening in your life now, the one without your child in the physical plane, to be full of soft sweet new music. May more people enjoy the pureness of your soul. I feel blessed by your stopping for a moment next to me, and touching me with your words.

Dear Scribenet - Your comments moved me to tears. I send you my sympathy. Only a person who survives such a loss can know the pain and emptiness that accompanies daily living. It is so very hard and your poor sweet mother...I wish I could take her in my empty arms and hug her. Losing one son has been so terrible. I cannot even imagine what losing 2 sons would be like. Please pass my love on to her with a message to contact me when ever she would like to talk. Peace.

Thank you for your message. My mother survived almost twenty years after my brothers passed on. She said that she learned to accept life and joy did return, but as you say, it is difficult for a long time.If she was here , she would most certainly welcome a hug and she would give you a big heartwarming hug back to let you know, time will soften the grief and the memories will be cherished forever. Peace and blessings to you from my heart.

No one comes close to replacing either one of them in my opinion. I am also very very sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved son, I can't imagine losing one of my kids, I pray for their safety, no child should pass on before there parents.

Don't even worry about the money coming in, just keep writing and hubbing and over time you will see some revenue. Study the methods to use SEO and keyword tools properly and how to add them and mix them with your hubs and google will find you.

I did not come to hubs for the money at all, but simply to share some of my writing humbly with so many talented writers. I am simply a man expressing from his heart a lifetime of experiences many good and some painfully sad.

Thank you for reading my hubs and I am glad they help soothe some of your sadness and pain. I to read many here and find often a tonic of relief and feel good after I am soothed by their words. Peace and hugs to you my hub friend.

This is a nice hub. So many people write about the monetary benefits of Hubpages, so I was pleasantly surprised to see someone writing about the friendships and support gained through this site instead. You have a very positive and selfless attitude and I think that's awesome. Keep writing! =)

So very sorry to hear of the loss of your son. My mother lost both of her sons and husband (my father and brothers) before she died earlier this year. It is hard to say the least and my empathy is extended to you and your family. We are here as a community to lend support as well as love and maybe even a little laughter now and then to one another. So very happy to have met you here. Keep writing and Bless you!

Dear Audrey, I am so happy to have met you here. The hub family is a constant source of inspiration, healing, growth and love for me. I feel so connected to the world and so many of the world's best are gathered in this community...you, for one. There have been a number of pieces I've written, where I hesitated, thinking, "well, I'm going to lose some friends, I fear". Then, I am barraged with support and continued encouragement and love. Quite honestly, Audrey, I've never felt an outpouring so generous anywhere. My life would be much less, so much lonelier, without my hub home and family. My connection here has made me better.

Hi, I seen your post on a mutal friends page. I too am so sorry about your son. You know, when I lost my mom,I was just angry with the world, and GOD, how could he take her away from us, and it took a few years before I figured it out. 2 years later, my sister died of a kinda rare aneurysm, they clumped together at the base of her spine to her brain, so it was inoperable. After that my dad's health declined quick, his dementia worsened, until no meds would keep him alive and he wouldn't even try to take his meds. Then one day it was like I GOT IT! My mom had to die first because I don't think she could have mentally withstood losing her, and then my dad, even though she still had me and her sister she wouldn't of understood that in time. So, since then I truly believe there is a reason, and of course it's different for you, and only time will let you know what it is. Just like money isn't just a reason to be here. :)

Vocalcoach -- lost my son a year ago Feb. 3rd so definitely relate. We each deal with our grief differently but you're absolutely right about getting back out in the world and contributing. It took me a while but I'm again finding interest in life. Truth is, one doesn't ever get over losing a child -- one just learns to live with it and once that's accepted it's possible to go forward. I'm enjoying your writing very much and look forward to more. Best, Sis
