How I tripled my earnings on Hubpages in 2010

How to make more money- I know the title of this hub sounds like a scam but its not. I have tripled the visits to my hubs in 12 months along with tripling my Adsense earnings. Yet in all of that I have not had to triple my effort. Just work a little smarter rather than harder.

Other Hubers such Chuck have written on their experience or success on Hubpages which can give you valuable insights also. This is my reflection over the past 12 months.

For the Record I received my first cheque for over A$150 in April 2010. i have been a member of hub-pages since August 2007 So as you can see there has been a quite a gap before I received my first AdSense Cheque. I must concede however I went AWOL for over a year with only a quick visit to Hub pages shortly after joining and posting my first 50 or so hubs. By the way I did not desert the Internet completely I spent much of that time at Newsvine a much more political and News site than Hub pages. However the ownership changed at Newsvine and for some reason the quality of contributors in my view has deteriorated since then as did my earnings. Anyway back to hub pages.

I started by doing the very basics to improve my hubs; By going over each and every hub and checking for spelling and grammar. I then did a keyword search on each hub and tried to add and improve the search tags to improve the search availability of my hubs. I do note that it is much better to do this before you create a hub from the start. In other words do a keyword search to get the best possible title for your hub based on the searches the public are doing. This is a mistake I made in the first three years and feel sure it has cost me. So I repeat ! Do a keyword search before you create the title to your new hub.

All is not lost even if you have not done a keyword search prior to starting a new hub. You can now use the recently introduced 'Title Tuner' which appears in the menu on your My Account page. The will optimize the title of your hubs by showing you percentage of search words used in similar hubs like yours. Modify your title accordingly.

Then look at the layout and information content of your hub. Does the reader really learn something- anything from reading your hub. They do not have to learn much. just something that the reader will feel is enough that they did not waste your time reading your hub. (common sense really!)

You can then link your hub to your other related  hubs.

I try to create links  with every hub.   This means  that readers spend more time at your hub. lookout for other of hubber writing's on the same topic. Add a link word to their related hub. Similarly add  links to your other hubs on the same topic.

If the reader enjoyed or were interested in the topic they will then click on the link and spend more time on your hub. The time spent will increase it's hub score.

Images and photos relevant to the topic are important. for instance the photo at the top of this hub is completely irrelevant to the hub. I put that photo their to make the point. Use original photos taken by your self if you can. A video clip will really personalise the hub and the reader will pick up on that, and enjoy that more than a commercial looking hub.

Stephhicks68 did just that on her hub on the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. By adding her personal photo's of the event gave you a personal perspective of her friend's and Sister's enthusiastic involvement in the event.

After you have added an appropriate number of images maps news pod. links to your other hubs patience is required for traffic to come. Some start high and quickly diminish in traffic. other evergreen hubs such as mine in particular on the Death Penalty continue day in year in year out to increase their traffic. Who would have ever thought that to be so when starting out. Similarly a hub on a wallet question on one of the many questions that are put forward by other Huber's can generate considerable traffic. Who would think that a hub on a men's wallet would be one of my most consistently highest performing hubs. These ever-green hubs continue to perform and generate income without me doing anything to them.

Engage in the Weekly Hub-mobs Competitions. You can find these competitions at the top right hand side of the Forum Page, which is at the top of your Hub page. Even If you don't win or produce the number of hubs that some of the more energetic Hubber's produce I can assure you that your exposure and following will definitely increase by doing this. I ignored hub-mobs to my own detriment until the middle of last year..more read here..]

Finally look to the more successful Hubber's here on Hub pages. Look to see what makes their hubs more popular than others.

I feel sure by following the tips i have suggested that you will greatly increase if not triple your earnings in one year.

Promote your hubs. once you feel proud enough to advertise you hubs. Promote them by letting your followers know that you have published a new hub you do this by clicking on the link on the bottom on the hub. Then promote you Hub further by posting to a Twitter Facebook Blogger and other accounts such as Reddit. Good luck !

So there you have it! I received my second cheque from Adsense last month(Dec) for A$160 + only eight months from my first Adsense Cheque. This represent a tripling of earning over a similar period. As well I am now on track to receive my third Adsense cheque in the next three months.

For those new to Hub pages trust me three years will go quickly be patient stick with it and eventually you will Begin to get some compensation from writing on hub pages. At first and even now my no one drive is not making money but rather an outlet for creative expression and learning both from myself and from the information provided by other Huber's. This is the number one reward you can get from Hubpages.
