How To Improve Your HubKarma

HubKarma is one of those interesting, new little features given to us by the wonderful people of HubPages.

I've been writing on HubPages for 16 months now and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I loved the mulling over what to write about, how to research my topic and gather information and most of all, I've enjoyed making friends. HubPages is also how I've met my girlfriend, Blaise25.

During my 16 months I've helped various people in various ways; be it people who are just looking for free software like an e-book reader or a comic book reader to people who want to read about other people's experiences of coming out of the closet or how to deal with having a child that is homosexual. There are Hubs for vampire-hungry fans like Vampire Diaries or House of Night, even ones about living life and I even created one on urine. Yep, you heard me correct, urine.

There's another hub on following fellow Hubbers and how to improve your Hubscore. Now I'm writing this hub about how to improve your HubKarma. HubKarma as defined by Hubpages is: HubKarma is a score that reflects the degree to which you link to others' Hubs and to Topic pages in your own Hubs.

This cannot be more true. Karma to me is that what you give is what you receive. Tenfold. Improving your HubKarma is so simple and so easy it's like childsplay. When you're writing your Hubs, add photos and videos and whatever else to make traffic flow to it. When you're done with your Hub, click 'Save Unpublished' and then click the link suggestion tool. This allows you to link words in your Hub to other Hubs from either your collection or other Hubbers. I do this quite often because I believe in the power of Karma. In four days, literally, my HubKarma went from 60 to 98 as shown in the picture above just due to linking my Hubs to various other Hubs and sites.

Now while HubKarma may not have much of a meaning to some people, I see my HubKarma as what I'm giving back to HubPages. No, I haven't received my check from Google and yes I am trying to get it, but what matters more to me is that every Hub I write is important information to someone out there.. be it about the latest rock/punk band The Pretty Reckless or the Gossip Girl hottie Taylor Momsen, every Hub that is written by a Hubber is written for a reason.

So take the five minutes to link your Hub to other Hub and give back to the community.

Thanks for this enlightenment Cisco. I have always wondered about the relevance of hubkarma.

I like the way you put it, giving something back to hubpages. That's the best reason i've heard so far.

They do deserve it. If it wasn't for HP, i wouldn't be where i am today.

Thank you for sharing this Cisco.

Cheers

It helps in gaining traffic which, in turn, can gain you money from Adsense. @glenmoh101

@viryabo: it's a pleasure! That's just how I see it personally. HubPages is a wonderful community and we're a part of it =)

Great advice and a great read, CiscoPixie. Thank YOU for your wonderful talent. Voted up and away. Now I know 100% what HubKarma is. You are a terrific writer and I am now following you. You are invited to check out my hubs if you need a good laugh. And I also invite you to be a follower too. With highest regards, Kenneth Avery, from Hamilton, a small northwest Alabama town that looks like Mayberry on the Andy Griffith Show. Ive been on hubs for seven months and LOVE IT. I will look for you.
