How To Put Amazon Onto Your Hubs

I have seen a few questions in the forums where people are a bit confused as to how to put Amazon onto their hubs. The following is a step-by-step guide to how I do it. This will only work if you have an Amazon account that is active. If you don't you will need to first sign up for an Amazon account.

Signing Up For Amazon

To get an Amazon affiliate account all the instructions on how to do this are at the learning center here on HubPages. Just follow this link.

How to Add the Amazon Capsule

Once your hub is written and you know what products you want to sell on your hub go into edit mode. Please note that you should only sell products that are directly related to the content within your hub. If you're writing about beauty products selling pots and pans will not work.

  • Click on the Amazon capsule.
  • This will be added to the bottom of your hub page.
  • Click on edit Amazon. You will have two choices:
  • 1) Choose specific products

  • 2) Choose keywords

Amazon Capsule

Choosing Specific Amazon Products

To choose specific products, open up a second browser tab and go to Amazon.com. Type in a search for the product you are looking for, and once you find it click on it. For example if you are looking for dog leashes and do a search, a page with many leashes will appear. Click on the specific one that you want to promote.

Once you see the leash that you want, click on the URL in the address bar. Right click and copy this URL. Go back to your hub Amazon capsule and paste the URL into where it says Amazon URL. At this point you can add more products repeating the above steps.

Once you are happy with the product or products that you have, click save. You can also add a capsule subtitle and write a description. You can easily move the Amazon capsule to where you would like it to appear on your hub page by clicking on the arrow keys or by the drop and drag in the right side bar.

Word Count and Amazon

When adding Amazon products to a hub you must have at least fifty words within the hub. If your hub is 500 words for example, you are allowed to have a total of ten Amazon products on that hub.

Once again please note: The suggested number of Amazon products per capsule is 2.

Choosing Keywords

Click on choose keywords such as dog leash and Amazon will give you 3 – 10 products relating to dog leashes. You can also use the drop down menu in the product area to help find your general items. Example you would pick from the drop down menu Pet Supplies then type in Dog Leashes for the keyword. Once you are happy with the results that Amazon has given you, click on save.

*Please note: Suggested Amazon products per capsule is 2.

I hope that this hub has been helpful and if you have any questions at all please leave them in the comment box below. Happy Hubbing!

topakins, Welcome to HubPages. When you have your amazon set up and active on HubPages, you don't need to insert the tracking code. It will automatically be picked up.

I'm new here. My worry is when you copy URL from the address bar, how will you insert your unique tracking code. Thanks!

Susan, this is a well explained hub for newbies who wish to add Amazon to their hubs. You have explained it in simple words. I try to use a combination of both ways to select products.

Voted up and helpful.

Awesome Susan. I have been thinking about adding Amazon as I'm in the process of writing articles about a few hobbies to which Amazon products might be appropriate add-ons. Thanks for the tips. I will probably be using this article for reference this weekend. You get my vote up!

The Amazon capsule just about had me stumped at first. Luckily, we've a GREAT community and format here for learning. Without people like you, Susan, I'd have gave up on this a long time ago.

Spirit I use them as I make money when someone buys the product if they click on the amazon product from my link.

This is a very well written guide to using the capsule. I never use the Amazon capsule as I feel that there is already a lot of advertising on our hubs. I never click on those capsules and so don't see the point in adding them to my own hubs. If I do feel strongly about a product usually a book I just create a link in the hub to the product.

Thank you for a very informative hub.

That is some great information for the new user. I know it took a little time for me to figure out the best way to use the Amazon capsules.

Funny that you wrote this article because I just saw a tip that said to maximize your earnings with Amazon, you can also add a brief description. I wasn't aware of that beforehand so I might have to try it the next time.

Oh yeah - and for the new users, it might be beneficial to know you can only have 1 amazon product per 50 words of content. I know I used to load up the amazon products because I thought it looked nicer... than I had to go back and touch things up a little! Bummer!

Great job!

Good job Susan, this is very helpful, I wish I would have had this when I first started on HP :-) Especially since I have heard that many people make more on Amazon than from Google...

People should use this tool. I've earned more using the Amazon link than I have actually have on the hubs. Thank you for the insight.

Thank you, Susan! I've avoided adding Amazon because I haven't had time to read the "how-to's". You took some of the workload off all of us!

Susan - thank you so much! I spent a couple of hours today working on this - I did not see the instruction about right clicking and pasting the URL - I couldn't figure out how to do that part. I eventually figured put how to use the specific product code but it would take so much longer to do it that way. Perfect timing for me!

dahoglund I find using specific items useful at times. Thanks for your comments.

Sometimes, I wonder if it's still worth for me putting in amazon capsules in my hubs. I have just read a hub saying that the commissions that I earned can only be used in US Amazon. I have yet to earn anything from Amazon and I guess that's why I haven't found out.

I usually just use keywords on the Amazon.
