What Kind Of Hubs Make Money?

Updated on September 30, 2014

Hubpages Success Stories

Is there such a thing as a secret to earning money on Hubpages?

If there is no one has told me what it is, maybe I came across it by accident or just by pure luck, but if there is a secret I seem to have cracked it and I make a nice monthly income from writing here on Hubpages.

I am lucky and proud to be included on the Hubpages Homepage as one of the Hubpages success stories and although I am not by a long shot the highest earning Hubber on the site I do earn enough to get me and my family through each month financially especially when you put into consideration the fact that in early December last year I was made unemployed when I lost my Job.

I have been a member on Hubpages for over 5 years now but with family commitments and work commitments I have hardly written a thing on the site or really even been very active for the last 2 and a half years.

Even with my inactivity and lack of writing my already published Hubs have gone from strength to strength and my earnings have steadily increased year after year.

My Profile Page

Google Panda

If you take a close look at my Hubpages profile page you will notice that there is a contradiction on it, there is an icon that states that I have published over 500 Hubs, but on my picture it states that I have only 495 Hubs, This is a result of the Google Panda algorithm that hit the site so hard last year and I unpublished a few hundred of my earlier Hubs that were below standard. I was one of those Hub publishers that was hit hard and fast by Panda and my earnings dropped like a stone in 24 hours.

I always had faith in The Hubpages team and knew in my heart that they would find a way through it for me and most of the other hubbers hit by Panda after all if we the writers were not making money then Hubpages was losing out too.

On the advice of The Hubpages team, I deleted over 300 Hubs and I have to admit that as I read through them all even I realised that they were substandard and not worth the Internet space that they were using up.

After following The advice from Hubpages my earnings and visitor counts began to rise again and at one point I was getting over 11000 Visitors a day to my Hubs.

The first piece of advice I offer in this Hub is to ensure your Hubs are worth publishing, High quality original material, well researched and well written, if you are not proud of the hub that you have created then re work it until you are.

Making Money

Education Matters

What Types of Hubs Make Me Money

I would love to tell you that every single Hub that I have written makes me money, and I am sure that everyone who writes on Hubpages is the same some Hubs make money and some don't, as a matter of fact only around 25% of my hubs make money on a regular basis with a further 10% making money just once in a while.

Back to School

I discovered early in my Hubpages career that Education matters, I don't mean that we all need to go back to school and learn how to write, but writing on educational topics gets visitors and visitors mean clicks and clicks means money in your pocket or for that matter my pocket, I have A teenage son and a teenage daughter and I have a son who is 10.

I learn a lot from them from helping with their School projects and homework, English,Maths, History, Science and so on.

They sometimes use the Internet to help them in their projects and get stuck because there is so little of the information out there that they find useful or that every website they find has the same information.

I have found that with a little research I can add the information that they couldn't find on the Internet via Hubpages and the visitors just keep coming.

Educational Hubs account for around 40% of my visitors to Hubpages and although the earnings per click is quite low I make a good income from them because so many people visit them.

Check your kids Homework you could find your self with a successful Hub after all their homework is the same homework that children all over the world are doing.

My educational Hubs proved to be successful even through my inactivity on the site.

Teens = money

Problems Problems

Teenagers have so many problems that it is unreal, from acne, to dating they have not got a clue on how to deal with things, when teenagers have a problem the first thing that they do is search online for advice, this is where the entrepreneurial Hubber comes along and makes a killing.

I have a few Hubs on teen dating and I have a few skin care Hubs which offer advice for teens and they are quite successful and even more so after Panda struck the Internet. again they make up for around 40% of my visitors and income.

A teenager only cares about one person, themselves and writing an article that seems to talk to that single person will reap you the rewards.

Products

Product reviews or comparisons are big business and the Hubs that I have written reviewing or comparing products account for the last 20% of my visitors and I make a good few dollars on Amazon from them too. I have a formula with product comparison Hubs which works rather well, I chose a product for example Christmas trees, and then I would write about 2 expensive trees , 2 moderately priced trees and 2 cheap trees. you may not make much money from the cheap trees but the people who buy them will probably stay on amazon to find decorations for them, the money does build up.

Of course there are literally millions of Products to choose from so you would never run out of material to write about.

Find your Success Secret

The secret of Hubpages success is up to you, you have to find the right thing for you to write about, I can only tell you what works for me and hope that you will find the niche that you have been looking for, if you find a subject or topic that starts getting you visitors and earning you a dollar or 2 a day then maybe you should specialise in that topic I and other successful hubbers have used this method and that is the true secret, find your niche and write it to death.
