How to Make Money from Other People's Writing (using URL Trackers)

URL Trackers

Go to my account page and then URL Trackers. You can see that one tracker is given to you by HubPages. You can create up to 19 other trackers with whatever word or phrase you want as long as no one else on HubPages has used it. You can use a normal, everyday word if you wish. Don’t make your tracker look like a tracker...

If you go to the URL Tracker page there are instructions displayed on how to use trackers. Maybe you have clicked down the display and need to click Hide to get it displayed again.

If you put your URL tracker on someone else’s article, you get the money for the next 2 hours.

Your URL tracker is also a referral link, if someone clicks on your URL tracker and then joins HubPages, you get 10% of the share of their Google money for as long as they are writing. Normally HubPages get 40% of the clicks and the author gets 60%, but if someone has used you URL tracker to join HubPages, then the author gets their 60% of clicks, HubPages gets 30% of clicks and you get 10%.

I suggest you have a link on your profile page in case anyone joins HubPages after reading it.

You can see on your URL Trackers page the number of people who have opened a HubPages account using your tracker, but you don’t know who.

Watch the following video to see me adding a tracker to a URL.

If you have a hub that you like, you can share it with other people by using the share button. The share button is located next to the vote up and down buttons near the comments section. Click on the share button and you can see places you can automatically share the article. You can email it, or send it to Facebook, Twitter, My Space, Digg, StumbleUpon or Reddit. When you do this for the first 120 minutes, you get the Google money, not the author.

I don’t really think this is a way of earning much money, but if you see an article on HubPages that you want to share with friends, then use the share button, so that if there is any revenue to be earned, you get it.

You can also use the share button with your own writing, it’s an easy way of sharing your own articles too. When you use this link, think about the time of day. If you are browsing at 2 in the morning and want to share something, maybe wait 12 hours before sharing it.
