Hurray, I Have Been Paid By Hubpages!!!

Earning Your First Paycheck from Hubpages

When I first registered I came across Hubpages and I read many articles written by people who claimed not to be paid by Hubpages. I think they gave up too easily. Then I read articles of people who made $300 to $1100 dollars a month. Testimonials are relative to the person as we are all unique individuals with unique earning potential.

We are as different as our hubs.

In The Beginning

What brings us to write on Hubpages is unique to us all. Death brought me to Hubpages which is rather ironic but I found a new life here and I appreciate that life. I found my voice here even if it is not always the most popular opinion but most of all I have found, that which I value the most, is the many good friends around the world which I adore and I am grateful to have in my life.

So when I started I just wrote, I wrote, and I wrote. After the death of my Mother I was quite shaken. I had a hard time putting a subject and a verb together to make a sentence let alone write an article. But I knew that I had to do something to find my new beginning. So I continued to write. I accepted criticism the best I could but admittedly I was very sensitive after my Mother’s death. So I probably didn’t take constructive criticism as well as I should.

But like religion, I continued to write. I took challenges and pushed myself beyond my comfort zone. Rebirth is a painful process and by no means is easy. I have the hubscore to prove it. But I appreciate that this is a living memorial to my Mother who is dead and also a diary of my recovery from death and my rebirth. It has been kindly suggested to start over with a new name so I can increase my hubscore but I can’t as this is my new beginning which all of you have witnessed. To abandon a rebirth is to lose sight I was reborn. There is a spiritual aspect of all of this for me as well.

And in the end I continued to write as it was my salvation.

You Can Join And Earn Too!

The Challenges and The Contests

I have taken all the challenges. I know I did the 30 hubs in 30 days and the 100 hubs in 30 days challenge. But I had to keep being productive even when I was never quite certain I would get paid. It was a matter of faith.

I have only participated in one contest but I entered almost everyday if not everyday. It was the Patron of the Arts Contest. I loved this contest even though I didn’t win. The competition was fierce as Hubpages has many talented writers. But it is always important to write in contests with writers who are better then you. You learn from more skilled writers.

In December, I checked my earnings and I wasn’t quite there for my first paycheck but I was close. I am in the middle of several legal battles so I have not had the time to write like I use to. I have written over 500 hubs in less then a year. So it is okay to take a little break now and again from Hubpages and I am really excited as Hubpages as lead me back to my research. I have been involved in research since the one year anniversary of my Mother’s death. I am so excited about the results and I want to share them with all of you so badly but I have to switch hats and go back to technical writing and submit for publication. It is weird switching writing gears but I have range so I can do it. I just have to force myself and apply myself with everything I have within me. And when we are published I will share my work with all my HP buddies.

Tips For Writing On Line

Pay Day

I didn’t get involved with Hubpages for the money. I had read articles both ways about the money. But I joined to heal myself and to find my rebirth after my Mother’s death. And I have had difficulty with my paypal account particularly because I will not give them my bank account number. I am old school and I don’t believe in any financial transactions on line.

But then one day I straightened out my paypal account. Perhaps I should say I complied and gave them an account number which is safe and I received my first payday. Admittedly, I could have collected the money a lot earlier but my experience on Hubpages has been like many experiences in my life and not financially motivated. Don’t get me wrong it is nice to be paid and I hope to continue to earn while writing on Hubpages but I would like to put all those rumors to rest. Hubpages pays writers who continue to work and earn. And now I am to the point where in months I don’t publish I earn. Well I am not certain there is a month I haven’t published but I publish substantial less then I use to and I am still generating income.

But more importantly I feel like I have so many people who have helped me heal and be reborn after my Mother’s death and I am so grateful to all of them. I have a Hubpages family that extends beyond any border and has brought me back to life so I may go on and accomplish things.

The End is Only a New Beginning

In conclusion, Hubpages provided me a forum to heal, an extended family around the world, hours of wonderful reading very informative hubs by my pals and some entertaining ones as well and finally the almighty paycheck. And for this I am exceedingly grateful. So thank you to all my friends and to HubPages.

If I have any advice for my new friends on HP, it is write and keep writing and you will earn. Just keep working and your rewards will outweigh your work in time.

All My Best,

If I may add that I am still being paid and I have hardly written any new hubs. While it is my advice to keep writing the key to being great is to edit, edit and edit. I am involved in that process now. It is overwhelming because I have over 500 hubs that need revision but I am doing it a little bit at a time.

Great hub. So glad you shared this. I remember how you reached out to help me when I had so many questions when I first started on HubPages--even though you were going through so much pain after the death of your mother. I am glad that HubPages has helped you to heal and that you have found your voice. Beautiful hub. Well done. I know you have other things going on, but I hope you stick around HubPages some! Hugs and blessings to you.

Good Evening Victoria Lynn,

Thank you. The advice I gave you was well worth it because you have filled HubPages with so many wonderful hubs which I have personally enjoyed.

I have to finish my professional publication of my research and we present in the Fall but I have a feeling I will be with HP for a very long time. Hugs and blessings right back at you my dear friend.

Congrats on making payout JT! but it's obivous that the value you have received from writing on Hubpages can't be measured by monetary means and is worth so much more. You are a true writer who finds life within their writing, never let that go! Good luck on your other writing!

I have not received a paycheck yet (have been here a few months longer than yourself) but I have posted only 56 hubs to your 500. Can't complain when i did 1/10 the work!

Thanks for the inspiration - I do hope to make some $$ someday, but I've gained Hubbuddies, experience, feedback, practise, and increased self confidence. Had some downright fascinating conversations. One Hubber was banned from the site after i forwarded his emails to Hubpages higher ups. You might say all sorts of interesting things have happened :)

Hi Grace,

Thank you and you will be paid soon. It takes a lot of writing and about 9 months and then most people earn their first paycheck but you have to write atleast a hub a day. Your work is great and it is well recieved. Your day is dawning. I just wanted everyone to know they can make money on HP as I have.

Thanks for the comments.

For now I'm not even thinking of getting paid by Hubpages, I'm here for promoting reasons, but of course extra cash wouldn't hurt :)

Hi genuieaid,

At six weeks I wasn't thinking about getting paid either but if you continue you will make money regardless of what you are thinking about.

Best of Luch to You!!

Get hub and great accomplishment, JT. I am so happy for you! Sometimes it is easy to wonder if it is all worth it, but you have stated it so well - there are many other benefits than the financial! Well done!

You are one of them my good friend Homesteadbound. All of you have been so encouraging and such a source of inspiration. I will still need your help later with flickr as I still haven't learned that part of hubbing yet. I am finishing my research publication tonight. Well atleast the parts of the paper that can be written now. I have to work ont he results and analysis.

But yes, the connections make it all worth while. So many wonderful positive good people around you. It is truly an honor to be amongst all of you.

As much as I would love to make more money. A person with a million friends is exceptionally rich. So thank you my dear friend.

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I joined hubpages for money, I admit it but now I see that it is a fine community and comments from other hubbers are awesome and they keep me going! Still no money but I am glad people like my writing so I will keep it up!

Hi Gentle Fist,

Your paycheck is only a matter of time. Keep it up and it will be a by-product of your success but not a direct measure. The connections you make are the real measure of success IMO.

Glad to hear of your story. It's always reassuring to the cynic in me to hear about people receiving cold hard cash for their hard work writing online!

Yes Crunch,

The cash is real you just have to stick with HP long enough to earn it.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Wow! 531 Hubs! You have been a busy gal, even with hardships in your life. I hope you can keep it up. That's so great you got a payout. I'm sure you were excited about that! Hope we all have a great year to come writing here on HubPages.

Thank you for sharing this. We each come here for different reasons and we write for different reasons. Good for you for finding a way to get your life back on track and I wish you the best. I'm still a newbie, just 4 months here, but I came as the writing work I have been doing for others wasnt fulfilling me at all and I had become bored of my little fahsion blog, I needed a new outlet, if I make some money too that will be a bonus!

Hi Daisydayz,

It will all come with time. Just keep writing for yourself and it will all fall into place for you.
