Wow! I Can't Believe this is my 50th Hub!
My Blogging Career
Well, I've seen that most people dedicate their 50th Hub to writing about their 50 Hubs and talking about what they've learned and such so... since those are the experts, I'm going to do the same. So... where do I start?
Let's see... well... for one, I LOVE HUBPAGES. The above picture says that I love blogging, but the truth is, I love Hubbing (don't tell the other blogsites).
I currently have blogs on the following sites:
However, the contents is more-or-less the same and, honestly, I created them to drive traffic to HubPages.
HubPages is my new Facebook. When I first joined Facebook, I was on there ALL THE TIME. I was addicted... Just as I'm addicted to HubPages now.
Because of HubPages, not only have I made other blog site accounts but I made a Twitter account, which I vowed not to make because... well, I don't really like Twitter. The only thing I do is post the URLs to my Hubs. What can I say?
Making Lot$ of Moolah?
The answer to my heading question is: NO. No, I am not making a lot of money on HubPages. So far, one person has purchased something from my Hub but ask me how much money I made from that. Come on, make a guess.
That's right: not a penny! Oh well (*sigh*).
With Google Adsense, I have made a little over $10, but there's a hold on it right now so we'll see how that goes.
Luckily, I'm not really doing this for the money, although money will be nice, very nice. Lord knows I need it. I just love to write and until recently, I haven't had the guts to share my writing with anyone except my mother.
What Brought me to HubPages
Quite simple. I saw an ad on the sidebars while playing PetVille on Facebook and I thought, Let me just try this out.
What Made Me Stay
I wasn't much of an "advertising writer". I really love writing fictional stories (realistic fiction mostly). I decided to post a chapter of a story from my "archives". It was a story that I chose not to complete a long time ago. I posted the first chapter but I wasn't confident enough to leave it up there, so I took it down.
I decided to take another approach. I looked into my story archives again and pulled out the beginnings of Thespian Lane. In my senior year in highschool, I had written out a complete outline for a story (Thespian Lane). I wrote an introduction and an ending. I've wanted to finish it throughout my first year of college but that didn't happen.
So, during my finals, I started working on some chapters and after posting chapter 2, I met my HubPages guardian angel.
"Friends" I've Made
I want to say I've made friends on HubPages but in reality, I don't really KNOW any of my HubPages "friends". However, they were kind enough to me (and still are) to be called friends.
This first person I have to mention was one of my first followers. I would never forget the first comment I received on the second chapter of my Thespian Lane Serial.
"Following my lead? It is nice to have company in the Serial world. Hopefully our work will be good enough that we won't be called "Serial Killers!" (HA HA)
I like this and will be back to read the following ones."
You would not believe how thrilled I was with that response. Then I received an email from this person, giving me tips on making capsules and forming groups for my writings. Next thing I was being told how to make an Adsense account. Next thing this person as linking my serial Hubs to his... and teaching me about the RSS feed.
This person has made me feel right at home at HubPages and I have to mention him first and thank him.
The next person I have to thank is marvalousnj... because she is the woman who gave birth to me! (Yes, I'm letting the cat out of the bag). :D Another one of my dedicated followers, she joined HubPages just to keep up with me. Thank you marvalousnj. You need to write more Hubs, mother dear!
Following behind Dobson and marvalousnj, is my buddy LizzyBoo. She had the courtesy to personally thank me in an e-mail for commenting on her Hubs. Afterward we became pen-pals. From what I have learned from her, she is a very kind hearted person and if I knew her in person she would be a good friend. Thanks for being my pen-pal, LizzyBoo!
Nellieanna Hay, your poetry has inspired me just as it has inspired many others. Thank you and keep up the wonderful work! I just had to mention you. =)
And now for my most dedicated followers and commenters (I know that's not a word):
drbj is one of my most dedicated readers. I'm grateful for your comments, drbj!
Ainehannah, you haven't been on HubPages in a while but I'm still waiting for the continuation of your story (which I was enjoying) and I thank you for commenting on mine.
Marijanareynders you have a gift for weaving words into stories so gracefully. I read some of your writings more than once. ;)
Shil1978 I appreciate you commenting on my writings and I love the responses you give me when I comment on yours.
Lady_E, thank you not for only commenting on many of my hubs but for introducing me to Xomba (a blog bookmarking site).
I had the opportunity to also talk with Denise Handlon via e-mail and she seems like a very nice person. :D I enjoy her Hubs and her comments on mine.
Silverfoxygirl108 is one of my newer friends and someone I've spoken with through e-mail. She's new to HubPages and has started a serial of her own. Good luck, Silverfoxygirl108!
SimoneSmith contacted me via e-mail for my opinion on a topic and I'm not sure if she knows how much I appreciated that so... I appreciated it, SimoneSmith!
I'm almost done people... hang in there... whew, I'm getting tired.
My two newest followers are awesome, especially in the area of supporting my Thespian Lane serial.
dallas93444, I was thrilled when I saw your comments on my last few chapters of Thespian Lane. Thank you so much.
ACSutliff, not only are you supporting me, but you've linked some of my Hubs to your wonderful serial. Thank you so much!
Fan mail I would never Forget
The fan mail that starqueen13 left me made me laugh.
"cool i cant wait to read some of your stories! and...lol my name is Kimberly too"
After reading that, I contacted starqueen and we started chatting. We chatted until about 3 AM. I was happy to have someone my age on HubPages... and with the same name as me. Haha. So, thank you, starqueen, for being so funny.
This fan mail really made me feel like a celebrity:
"I am stuck on your hubs! Where have you been hiding? You're a Great asset to the Hubpages community. How long have you been writing? Writing seems to come naturally for you, it's like your talking just to me. I bookmarked your hubpage (I want to read them all!!) and I Just Joined Your Fan Club, Would Love You to Join My Fan Club as well so we can keep in touch. Til then,Kadmiels"
Thank you Kadmiels!
Another touching fan mail I really appreciated was from englightenedsoul
"You have a new loyal fan now. You have all the qualities to be a successful hubber and you are already a successful newbie. I am amazed at your productivity. Will follow you closely and if you ever need help with anything let me know."
I appreciate it, enlightenedsoul!
Gramarye's fan mail also made me laugh. Are you all ready for this:
"Shih tzu owners unite!"
Once I read that I was literally LOL-ing. Yes, Gramarye, Shih tzu owners unite! Thank you for supporting my updated on Xena: My Warrior Puppy.
What I Like and Don't Like About "The Pages"
For those followers I failed to mention, I'm so sorry. I do feel that I'm forgetting some very important people but I want you all to know that I appreciate everything!
What I like about The Pages:
- The family-like community that has been built here
- The compliments that people are always willing to give
- The opportunities to expand one's knowledge.
- Reading the work of people from all over the world... and reading their feedback as well.
- The ability it gives me to share what I love, writing.
What I don't like about The Pages:
- The people who abuse these pages, who use it for their own selfish purposes (such as advertising themselves as available to "hook up" with other people)
- Those who "dirty" the pages with rude remarks and uncalled for comments.
- Those who take every moment they have to degrade and put others down (and there is one hubber in particular who constantly does that).
Sometimes I wish I can flag people simply for being so nasty but... hey, that's life.
To Conclude this extremely long Hub
I hope I didn't bore anyone. Once again, sorry to those who I may have forgotten. I can't help that think I forgot someone and now I'm sort of thinking that I should not have called out to specific people because I may have caused others to feel left out.
To mention a few of my other followers (specifically, those who have left fan mail):
lorlie6 - Oh my goodness, lorlie, you've also been a dedicated follower (and commenter) thank you very much!
CMCastro - You've also been a dedicated follower. Thanks much!
oscillationatend - thank you for your technological help!
I have to mention a friend of mine who I convinced to join HubPages. Her username is Zannie10. She only has one Hub so far but I wish her the best of luck on HubPages!
Thank you all for the support. I appreciate it more than words can say! I look forward to another 50 Hubs on HubPages!
