Do you follow hubbers without reading their writing first?

   Do you follow hubbers without reading their writing first?
   
   If so how do you decide to follow them? On what criteria do you base their worthiness to be followed by you?
   
   There could be obvious answers but each individual can answer for themself.

   No.  I don't play the follow me, follow you game - I dislike it.
   
   If someone follows me or makes a comment, or I see a forum post or hub that is interesting I may look at their profile and see what they are writing about.
   
   I may check out one or two of their hubs.  Mostly that is sufficient for me to carry on with my other stuff.  Very occasionally I follow, but it is a rare thing.
   
   Why do I do this?  Because I think a follower should actually read some of the work of the author they are following.  Otherwise it becomes a misleading statistic.

   Since the date i had joined hubpages... I have wanted to follow 95% of the users. Because people at hubpages are simply awesome.. very rarely i see bad stuff on hubpages... Its sort of knowledge bank for me and I want to make most of it by following users...

   Yes, I might do this (and have done this).
   
   If someone's profile shows she has a lot in common with me, I may follow without reading any hubs. Say I don't have time to look at any hubs, but I know that after following I will receive notification of new hubs. I can read them at that time.
   
   Another situation would be a writer I know from another platform. if I already trust that writer, I would instantly follow without reading any hubs.
   
   But generally, I do browse a newly discovered hubber's list of hub topics and select one or two to read.
   
   I don't automatically follow those who follow me.

   If a person becomes my follower, I will go to their profile and also read a few of their hubs.  If their hubs are a interesting to me, and can give me information I don't have, or if their style of writing is something I can learn from, I will follow them also.
   
   When I get an email that people I am following have published new hubs, I try and read a few and comment because I know the comments, if genuine, can be very helpful.
   
   If I find that I have not been reading and enjoying hubs by someone I am following, I will stop following them.

   No, I don't follow people just a s a matter of fact or because they followed me. I read what a person has to say, read the profile and follow them if I see or feel something worth following.

    No, be fore I'll do the following... need to read at least one or two hubs. However, there are instances that I don't read, specially if the hubber is a highly respected, but later... I'll have to read some of his/her hubs.

    I always read a persons hubs before following them. If a hubber follows me then I do always read a couple of their hubs and follow if I like what I read.

    Sometimes I do. I always look at a hubber's profile and look at the hub titles to see if they write about things I'd be interested in - or if we share the same interests. Then I always try to go back and read some of their hubs and comment later - when I have time. I haven't had much time to read other hubs lately because I've been trying to do the 30 Hubs in 30 Days challenge - and falling behind!

    i think it's funny that we can vote up or vote down comments in our world, just like retweeting or liking things.  it's also comical to look things and see our opinions about the follow me, i follow you mentality or there is criteria as to why we choose people. 
    
    i believe the world is just one giant mirror and i think about things in regards to who i may follow or friend.  on FB for example, there are some giant (insert expletive) that pop up in the friend feed that i know from my past and i recognize that behavior because i can also be like that.  do i want to be friends with everyone or follow everyone? no, but i'm okay with that, and isn't that all that really matters whether we vote up or vote down?
    
    in the end, i try my hardest on finding the comedy in it all.  it's too tragic otherwise.

    No, I do not 'blindly follow'. 
    
    Several of their hubs will first be read by me.
    
    Either, they must interest me, challenge me ,entertain me or leave me with a sense of wanting more.
    
    In return, I do hope that I  do at least one of the above for each of my followers.

    Sometimes I do. other times i do it in reverse. Some hubs that i have found were because I had followed somebody and then they posted something useful.

    Yes,I do.I have this habit of reading the titles and then the topics preferred by certain authors which were of course related to mine,then, I would immediately click on them.

    No, I read some of their writing before I follow.  If I am interested in several of their topics or I feel some sort of a kinship with them in even one area then I might decide to follow them.

    No I do not. I like to know a bit about who I follow!!!  I read a profile, a hub or two and sometimes three if they are really engaging. If they have something I like then I follow and try to share them as often as possible.  It is not always easy to hook up if one has allot of followers but I have a routine I try to follow. So I read my fans at least once a year maybe twice. My more faved hubbers I read more often. I know some of my followers follow on my profile and say they will come back to read. I hope they make it back. Most seem too, eventually.  Thanks for positng your question. Skye
