How important do you believe it is to leave fan mail once you start following someone on Hubpages?

Often times I will follow someone and then after I have gotten to know them a little better I like to leave fan mail. Unfortunately, that means sometimes I forget to leae fan mail even though I really like them. I know I like recieving fan mail, so I was wondering what others thoughts are on this subject?

I will usually follow someone for awhile before I leave fan mail. When I first start following them I don't like to judge too quickly.

I definately would forget if I don't do it right away, so I read one or two of their hubs to see if I want to follow them, then I leave fan mail.

I think that fan mail is important, but necessarily at the onset of following someone. For me,following fellow hubbers may be spawned from different reasons- a single hub, a insightful comment or a great profile introduction. That being said, I think that fan mail should be sincere and that can come at the onset of following someone or a year after following them.

It's not incredibly important.  It just means that some people really, really enjoy your hubs.

It makes me happy every time I receive a fan mail. Makes me feel appreciated. I usually try to leave a fan mail to let the Hubbers know that I have read and am really interested in their hubs. Otherwise, I will leave comments to some of their hubs, just to let them know that I do not follow blindly. I sometimes fail to leave fan mails though. There are some Hubbers whom I find really interesting (even if I have only read a single hub from them) and I don't want to be unable to find them later on, so I follow them right away. I also want to get to know them first before I leave them a fan mail. Hence, some Hubbers that I follow haven't received a fan mail from me.
So I think as long as you have somehow shown to Hubbers that you are sincerely interested in them, leaving a fan mail is not really that important.

i don't think it is important. commenting on what they have to say is more important in my eyes.

I usually leave a fan mail when I start following them.  I don't follow unless I find their hubs interesting, so I leave the fan mail after reading one or two hubs and leaving comments.  It really feels good to have someone comment on your blog.

Hey, everyone likes a pat on the back. Even more so when it improves a rating. Still, time is indeed finite, so you do the best you can.
