I really liked this question. If I were to ask an expert in SEO to create a hub for me specifically, I would ask them for a step by step foolproof way to choose keywords for Hubs that would get at least x views per day, without doing any backlink work, and using basic on site SEO and no more than 500 or 600 words in length. For instance, I would love a foolproof way to get at least 5 pageviews per day per hub by choosing keywords that will rank on the front page without any backlinks. It would be even better to have a foolproof way to choose keywords that will get at least 10 page views per hub per day. If I could find that foolproof method, I would write 5 to 10 hubs per day, every single day without fail.
I have hubs that get between 1/2 and 15 page views per day, but I cannot find a pattern to let me know how to choose the keywords that will be guaranteed to get 5 to 10 page views per day or more. There doesn't seem to be anything to do but leave it to chance, or backlink the hub, and backlinking - that's a whole 'nother subject. You can get one backlink from a forum for a certain keyword and be at the number one spot, or spend months backlinking a hub and never even end up on the front page. I have two hubs like that, and they both have the same on-site SEO, basically the same allintitle, allinurl and exact results, and pretty much the same PR sites in the top ten. It is indecipherable how Google chooses who gets to the top and who doesn't.
@homesteadbound A lot of the information on Hubpages about SEO is either outdated, confusing or honestly sometimes written by people who have no idea what they are talking about. I have checked out several articles on SEO on hubpages where the person writing has like four hubs, and is not ranked on the front page or anywhere close for any of them. I think I will sit down and write a Guide to SEO for Hubpages. I don't claim to know everything about SEO, but I do know how to do onsite optimization, basic keyword research and backlinking, and I guess I should share it with everyone. Check in a few hours for my Hub on SEO.
