What is one aspect of SEO or Hub promotion that you are the most confused with?

If you were to read a hub right now on some aspect of SEO, what would that hub explain to you?

What would be the best way to go about promoting hubs? And if you say something like, creating backlinks, specific sites, etc. I really have never done anything like this before, and I think sometimes that my head is going to explode. My husband says its because I'm getting older and it's harder to learn, but I don't want that to be true! I guess at this point, you could say that all of it confuses me! I wish it wasn't so... but wishing isn't working right now.

homesteadbound - one thing is sure !!! you are a bit confused. You should have put this in a Question or in a forum rather than in an answer !! You sure are to get good responses. OK. Initially it might look some hard grind, but the good part is you can learn with a bit of patience - dont worry if you go slow - this might look a bit of greek or latin if you are new to Internet writing/marketing. Persist, persist, persist eventually you may reach your goals.

PaulPd0 - we have lot of good articles on SEO and Hub promotion which explains neatly on what to be done. But all these can help you to certain extent only, fundamentally our writing should be good, and should sustain the interest of the user. That I guess will be difficult to get from any article - it will come from sustained practice only.

I really liked this question. If I were to ask an expert in SEO to create a hub for me specifically, I would ask them for a step by step foolproof way to choose keywords for Hubs that would get at least x views per day, without doing any backlink work, and using basic on site SEO and no more than 500 or 600 words in length. For instance, I would love a foolproof way to get at least 5 pageviews per day per hub by choosing keywords that will rank on the front page without any backlinks. It would be even better to have a foolproof way to choose keywords that will get at least 10 page views per hub per day.   If I could find that foolproof method, I would write 5 to 10 hubs per day, every single day without fail.

I have hubs that get between 1/2 and 15 page views per day, but I cannot find a pattern to let me know how to choose the keywords that will be guaranteed to get 5 to 10 page views per day or more. There doesn't seem to be anything to do but leave it to chance, or backlink the hub, and backlinking - that's a whole 'nother subject. You can get one backlink from a forum for a certain keyword and be at the number one spot, or spend months backlinking a hub and never even end up on the front page. I have two hubs like that, and they both have the same on-site SEO, basically the same allintitle, allinurl and exact results, and pretty much the same PR sites in the top ten. It is indecipherable how Google chooses who gets to the top and who doesn't.

@homesteadbound  A lot of the information on Hubpages about SEO is either outdated, confusing or honestly sometimes written by people who have no idea what they are talking about. I have checked out several articles on SEO on hubpages where the person writing has like four hubs, and is not ranked on the front page or anywhere close for any of them. I think I will sit down and write a Guide to SEO for Hubpages. I don't claim to know everything about SEO, but I do know how to do onsite optimization, basic keyword research and backlinking, and I guess I should share it with everyone. Check in a few hours for my Hub on SEO.

I am not really promoting my Hubs too much because I see that some accounts have a score of "1" and it really scares me because I think it could happen to anyone. It is really scary to think about making a massive contribution and giving it your best with the knowledge that everything could be gone in a flash. I need to find out why all these people have a score of 1 and why they are still showing up on HP? What is going on?

@Homestead I prepared an article called the Absolute Easiest Guide to Increasing Traffic after I read your response to this question - I think this may help you get your head fastened back on :p

@Jonas you pose an excellent question. I will actually write a hub about this - there are a few formulas that I have used to determine monthly income or traffic from targeting a keyword, but being certain about being able to rank for a keyword will require that you research into the domains that already rank for that keyword (pagerank, linkbase, content, etc.). Backlinking can be rough - I've tackled keywords that I had no business pursuing on my own website and actually made it to the first page for quite a few of them by just building more and more and more backlinks. It does work over time, you just have to know what backlink will benefit you and what will not - and when!

@Misvakumar I appreciate the help, but I was actually asking the question so that I can come up with additional hub ideas - I've been putting all my HP articles towards teaching hubbers what they're doing.

@Whoisbid I haven't seen these hubbers with a score of 1 yet? I've definitely seen some terrible HP accounts, but none so low as that. That is pretty interesting though.

Anyone else that chimes in - I can't respond here again after this question, but please feel free to give me some more ideas!

The quickest, simplest method for attracting traffic. Which is more important - title, url, key words, length or article, backlinks - both to and fro, content, and how webcrawlers work at different browsers or the prioritized system. Then again I really don't know what I am talking about either.
