What happened to my traffic when I switched from adsense to the hubpages program.
I changed over from Google Adsense to the HubPages program a couple of weeks ago and my traffic dropped instantly by about 75% and hasn't recovered yet. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any information on why this might happen?
Thanks.
I never had much traffic or money until I went to HubPages, but I was fairly new when it started. I get plenty of Google traffic, but very little ad money. Hubpages isn't a lot, but it is regular. I've read that other people had big drops and I thought about doing just Adsense, but I'm worried about making the switch.
I'm pretty certain that that was just a coincidence. Google is testing your subdomain and their search results - you're just experiencing the Panda, and your traffic will return in a week or two.
I had a drastic drop in traffic between 9/6-26/11, but I can't correlate it with participating in the HP Ad Program which I had been enrolled in for several months before this drop occurred. I was told by various people that Google was probably tweaking its algorithms and that my traffic would return soon.
Wesman's response that "Google is testing your subdomain and their search results" is an intriguing one since I have no idea how Google tweaks or tests its algorithms, but I would agree that this is probably what you are experiencing. I was really bent out of shape for a good three weeks, wondering what I had done wrong, and traffic slowly began returning and I'm now getting more than I did prior to 9/6. So yes, hang in there and you should see an improvement soon.
By the way, Google ads are still being displayed on your hubs (if you thought Google might be mad at you for switching to the HP Ad Program). You still have a couple of ad spaces devoted exclusively to Google ads, and when the HP Ad Program can't find a higher performing ad, it will place Google ads in their ad slots.
Hope that didn't totally confuse you. If you want more info on how the HP Ad Program works, check out the hub I wrote about it.

A few days ago, I noticed that a lot of people were talking about changing from HP Ad Program to Google AdSense. I had tried that a few years ago, but switched back pretty quickly because I earned better with HP. Recently though, since my earnings have dropped so much, I figured I didn't have much...

OK follow Hubers! I was wondering if anyone's earnings have bounced back yet from Fred or from HubPages changing the homepage's overall look? I am still earning under $.25 a day! I've lost 98% of my revenue per day for almost the last two months now. I was never making a ton of...

Feeling slightly apprehensive and even a little guilty for having done so! Do HubPages earn a share of my Adsense earnings and what would the effect be if everyone switched to Adsense?
