You can write about any topic you want to write about.
I imagine the most popular ones that are read do contain a "How to" aspect.
However there are lots of writers who post poetry, stories, and commentary on events in the news. Can write about whatever interests you.

    hi Amanda...

Happily, Hubpages is not simply a "how-to" writing place although there is plenty of that and the Hubbers are excellent at demonstrating..."how to" stuff.  That said, there is plenty of poetry and prose that would not fall into the "how to" category.  I think you will discover a wide range of topics and different approaches to writing them.  Good luck!

It is about anything you can write, except some restrictions. You are not permitted not write about  drugs, weapons, free download etc.

I figure you can write about almost anything here on HubPages. I've done book reviews, written letters to Harry Potter characters, talked about making money and written satirical pieces that probably would have been better as blogs.

If you're here strictly for the money though, you would probably do well to write a few more how-to's than the average person. People tend to Google how to do things more than letters to Fred Weasley.

I would suggest find ways u can help the world for free with experience or how to then you can be relevant in many ways as you live what you did and can help others the same! Whether with cooking, cleaning, working, thinking, there are plenty of things every person knows how to do that can help someone , that's all. Successful writing.. big_smile  Gary at knowledgeshared the hub for everything FREE or Money Saving genre !
