   Why do some people use the HubPages Q&A section for doing research?
   
   Why do some people prefer to ask questions in Q&A that can easily be answered by doing research on Google?

   I've always thought that people might do it to get attention.  Maybe they think that if they ask the question, people will notice them more and visit their Hubs (It might work.)  I've also considered it might be an attempt to get accolades.  Maybe they want the information delivered to them instead of having to look.  My last guess is that they simply want to be a part of the community and don't understand that the forums are for communication and the questions section is more geared towards creating Hubs and answering questions that are very difficult to research.

   Maybe same applies to the question at hand. Attention is a given. If nobody wanted attention they would've opened a book in a cubicle for all that matter.
   
   Maybe clicks are evolving... Maybe people don't even want to click that much anymore. Besides, if people were disciplined enough to research on Google, we would've been out of any writing business opportunity.
   
   What's wrong with wanting an accolade? I love those little avatars!

   I think also that some people want to learn from their fellow Hubbers.  I feel like I can learn a lot from my fellow Hubbers, so if I had a question, I would ask it. However, I would not do it for the attention as other people have said.  Some people have more knowledge than others, and learning anything new is my passion in life.  That's a great question!

   If youResearch Google you get one answer. If you ask a question here you will get a variety of answers and it is interesting to everyone o see what that variety of answers might be. It would be better if the questions being asked were of more value than some I have seen on here. Greg

   I've often asked myself the same question. I have concluded that asking a question in a forum allows for a variety and multitude of answers at once; opposed to searching different websites one at a time.
   
   Additionally, an answer on the web is not necessarily valid, especially if the source, and the reputation of the source is unknown. This actually holds true to some of the answers to questions that I have seen on HubPages. I have seen answers that are so far off the mark, that I hope the person asking the question does not take heed (the blind leading the blind).

   On Hubpages, I can ask a specific question and get varied answers from intelligent people. I have written two hubs with the answers to questions. It is a quick procedure. Asking questions that interest me and answering questions keeps my brain sharp. Google is very impersonal and often very technical. You may search for a long time there and not get what you really want. Often, the info is not up to date and not  from a reliable source.
   
   One of my hubs from answers required personal information on an intriguing subject,  and the answers from the hubbers  can top anything Google could ever offer.

   I once searched Google for a particular question on grammar. I found various apposing answers and was none the wiser for it.
   I asked the question here and received good explanations as to why it should be written a certain way and also why there were apposing answers.
   Often searching Google for an answer is long and laborious and can involve a great deal of time and reading before finding the answer. Here answers are short and sweet and all in one place. So why not ask questions.
   Questions and answers I have read have resulted in ideas for a hub. It is also a nice way to meet other likeminded people.
   The HP community is full of intelligent people ready and willing to help others.

    Well, Google has no human presence, and hubpages has just that, and you never know when your going to run into a subject matter expert, that has the potential to help you directly as opposed to some almost accurate inhuman search.
    
    I don't like bots much, and so they will mainly cater to the ad's they feed everyone on Google, as well as many other search engines, as opposed to being mindful as a human has the potential to be. This is why I devoted my own career expertise, my research skills for Q&A, and hub writing, to helping others via this awesome tool they call the web, and its awesome to do so today.

    Right now a lot of people are asking questions in the Q&A in hopes that another hubber will write a hub about it for the March contest. People who ask questions that have inspired the winning hub can also win a little something.

    I think it's the interaction as well as the variety of the answers to the question asked that is not available on searching on any search engine. This is the reason for my asking questions here.
    Plus you may get some followers too in the bargain if your questions, or answers for that matter, are creative.

    One does research from any source to get a vast variety of sources for a given subject.
