Would you vote an answer or Hub down because it offends you?

I've noticed a lot of people voting based on popularity or sensitivity issues. I don't think that is the way to vote. Being "offended" is a personal decision. If it is within the TOS of HubPages, why would you vote it down?

Voting a hub up or down probably is done based on bias or preconceived ideas. I have most likely been guilty of this myself. While writing skills and the value of correct information should be taken into consideration I believe many often do judge on whether they agree or disagree with the subject matter and the writers opinion. It is my belief that human nature causes us to do this whether it is right or wrong. I will in the future be more open to looking at the quality of a hub as well as giving my opinion in the comments! I believe that is fair.

When you say, voting is a "Personal" decision ... and postulate your personal View, as Right, are you not forgetting that in Democratic arrangement, 99% People vote on Popular Issues ... like you just did ...

Although at General public level, it could be relating the Social, Economic or Religious Sensitivities.
That very few people, have the Capacity, to Think and Decide, in a purely objective manner ...

Meaning, think, constructively, positively and beyond the restraints and constraints of personal Prejudices and Objectives; called Sensitivities ...
Fewer still are those who can handle the other's views on pure "Merit" ...
Most readers go for the Generated ... Popular Sensitivities ...

Reckon ... it might help, if understood, that primarily, the Hub Pages, are a Business Domain, that has an Organization to run ... which involves Revenues and Profits ... and Sensitivities can be a good source of Income.

Thus, the Pages are not a Literary, or a Moral Forum ... "Philosophies" are only allowed, because, these attract a large specialist audience ... Readership, interested in Controversy  ...

Many Pressure Groups are also present on the Pages ... and most Think Tanks, follow the Pages, to gauge Common or Uncommon Public sentiments ...

I am Fortunate to have about 44 regular Readers ... what Qualitatively ... is better than having 44 million casual readers ...

Although I have never voted a Hub Down ... and at the considerable risk of handing over my Password ... Whenever I voted, I have Voted on merits not, Popularity or Sensitivities ...
Reckon, its still remains a Site to be associated with ... till I am thrown out by Popular Prejudices.

I have never voted a hub down. If I do not like it. I just do not vote. I will also disagree in the comments so that the writer knows why I disagree. Sometimes they have not thought of all of the ramifications in writing what they have.
Answers only get voted down by me if the information is not relevant to the question or if the answer is totally wrong. I do not feel the need to judge.

I've noticed a lot of people doing this as well. If something is offensive to me or I disagree I may provide some input or just move on to greener pastures. I don't vote others down because I disagree or am offended by what was said. I know that I don't have to agree and it really isn't important that I let them know or punish someone  by voting their work or opinion down. However, I have voted one hub down that only existed to sell something and had numerous links to a single website. That particular hub at best, had probably 200 words in it.
