I have only been on HP less than two months so I may not be the expert to answer this.
For unpublished hubs, I believe the views are yours when you work on or edit it. They appear to carry over when you publish the hub. That doesn't make sense to me why HP would do that.
I'm not sure if anyone understands hubscore. The hubscore of all of my hubs is always going up and down. A question by experienced hubbers is what to do with old hubs with low hubscores. Some advocate deleting them, some advocate buffing them up, some advocate do nothing.
One experienced hubber recommended letting your hub set unpublished for awhile for the very reason that the score goes up! Maybe hubscores are like bread, you have to let them set for awhile as they rise or they may be like fine wine, they get better with age. But, even with bread and wine, if you let them set too long, the bread gets stale and the wine turns to vinegar.
