   Is there a positive to following everyone?
   
   I noticed some people are following 3 and 4 people per hour some days. Surely all these people don't write about topics they like. So is there a positive to doing this that I am missing? Does it increase traffic?

   Maybe they liked an answer to a question they are interested in. Since one cannot write another answer, following the other person is a way of thanking them for spending the time to answer what to others might seem uninteresting...

   As you follow someone, there is chance that the guy you follow may follow you in return, but only in case that he has few followers. To some degree, that more followers makes your hubpages charming and people consider it worth reading, and it really helps to drag some traffic. And more followers come the chance they may share your hubs on their social networks. It may drag traffic considerably. But everyone will not share something awful, so the most important thing is to make your hubs a real excellent one.

   Actually it's quite the opposite. That sort of activity will bring your hubber score down.
   
   And the topic has been discussed quite sometimes in the forums.
   
   Let me point you to some discussion where excessive following has plummeted the hubber score.

   I try to only follow people who have hubs that interest me or that I can identify with. Sometimes I follow people to give them support in their efforts to get started in HP. Not for nobility, but I appreciated it when people were there for me. And that is a very big positive for me.

   I think it is done partly to increase your number of followers. If you follow someone there is a chance that they may follow you back.
   
   I don't necessary agree with that strategy, but that is probably part of the reasoning behind it.

   I tend to follow only hubbers who write on topics I'm interested in, and whose hubs are well-written...meaning mostly free of grammar and spelling errors.  (Nobosy's perfect!) After all, a follow is not only a boost to the ego of the hubber, but a recommendation from me to my own followers that that hubber is a good (even fantastic) writer and worth checking out.
   
   When I see that a new follower has followed 20 (or more) other hubbers in quick succession...say, in the last hour or so...I DO NOT follow back. I call such people... usually newbies..."warehousers".  NOT a good method for attracting followers in return!

   I tend to be picky about who I follow. Lately I've been thinking I've been to cautious in this regard. I don't think it's a good idea to follow everyone, but it can help to build relationships with other hubbers you admire.

   I agree with the idea to much is not good. I follow hubbers that I enjoy reading and in most cases I will follow people that follow me because if they like my stuff I in most cases like theirs . Like attracts like I guess.

    I try and follow Hubbers whose work I enjoy reading so I can read their new Hubs when they are published.  I will also follow a newbie who has few followers and their work is really good.  I feel like I am giving them support to their work.  Everybody has to start somewhere.
