Without a doubt, the incident that has moved me the most in life was birth.

Yes, birth is a most moving moment, William.

The event that most moved me was being born.  It moved me from one side of the veil to this side.  The next big event will be moving back again...from mortality to immortality.

Perspycacious, If I'm not mistaken I think you mean getting free from the cycle of reincarnation. I think most of us want immortality  after death in this sense. I'm with you on this.

By far the pregnancy and birth of my children. My entrance into motherhood opened up my world in so many ways. It was at this time in my life that I felt the hand of God more than ever before..

Kelley, when my wife delivered the first time, she said that giving birth is like a new birth for her. I agree with all you say. As a father I can say too, that being one is a great gift from God.

Other than my conversion to Christianity, getting hit by a car Dec. 24, 1960 during a snowball fight.  It's given me a Daredevil like radar for hearing cars as I now look BOTH ways before crossing streets!

Bob, I realize how important it is to keep our eyes and ears open when on the road. I agree with you.

Becoming a Christian is the single event that has had the most significant impact on my life.  Every day it affects my thoughts, actions and reactions to the world around me.  Outside of that, I would have to say my divorce was the one event that changed me and my life.  I became more intentional in every decision I made.  If I had made a more careful decision regarding marriage, I would have saved myself and my children a lot of pain.

Divorce indeed leaves a lot of pain and scars especially on the minds of the children more so if they are at an impressionable age.
And one's faith or religion keeps us sane and makes us act according to His will. I can't agree with you more.

The most life changing event so far has been the attacks on 9/11 - without a doubt.  Delivering my children was amazing and moving and beautiful but the loss of human life on that horrible day was more tragic and sad than anything I have ever experienced.

To see people suffer and die in front of you and being helpless is one of the most disturbing feelings, I can say. I can relate to what you say.

What has probably moved me the most probably would be when my Mother was close to death. She had been a true lover of nature and had tended to plants of all kinds all of her life. If you ever needed to find her she was in the fields working on her vegetable garden on in the yard tending to acres of flowering plants.
She passed along this love of plants and growing things to my sisters, many of her grandchildren and to me.
By the time this happened she was very fragile and unable to speak. My daughter who was 19 at the time said to her...'It's ok Grandma, you can go on now. We will take care of the plants for you.' I will always remember the day. The sparkle in Mother's eye clearly let us know she understood.

ps, my mom suffered for 5 years before her death from complications of cancer, stroke and a failing heart. Seeing her pain every moment was the most painful experience.I can very well experience your feelings and relate to them.

There are so many moving replies here, I guess the death of my mother moved me the most, if only I had realized what was happening and she did deserve to live longer, and nowadays certainly would have.  I loved my mother very much and still do, I just wish my children loved me as much.

I would have said the birth of my three children, until my daughter went through a divorce.  Nothing moves you as much as seeing one of your children hurting.

There are many with the same and bigger hurts.  Christ himself was betrayed, mocked, and spit upon.  It doesn't get much worse...unless they crucify you, too.

Kathleen, divorce is a terrible thing to go through and more painful if one's child has to go through it. I can understand how difficult it must have been for you.

The unexpected death of a son.  While he was a young adult, to me, nothing is more tragic than a parent having to bury a child.

To see the one's own child die and to perform the rituals is extremely painful. I'm sorry to learn about the death of your son. It is indeed tragic to die so young.

Most joyfull without a doubt the birth of my children.  Most heartbreaking, so many desaters around the world that have have taken so many lives.
    Both ends of the spectrum.

Holding my daughter for the first time was definitely a huge event for me.  Before that it was getting married to my wife.  Everyday, I experience something new with my child and family.  They're new memories i'll treasure always.
