I have heard this can be done but I do not know the specifics - do we get a percentage of page impressions?

Yes, it is optional for you to move your questions to your subdomain. Go to My Account, and then Q&A. I believe that is where that option is found.
When you say yes, then the question will be on your subdomain, and you will get credit for views to ads just like you get on your hubs.
