    5 simple steps:

    1. Create an account (use username that is easy to remember)
    2. Follow the ones in your area of interest. E.g. geeks for technology or artists for music lovers
    3. Tweet your hubs (however timing matters and creativity too)
    4. Use hashtags and check out what's hot on Twitter
    5. Finally, Interact with your followers and engage on Twitter to build trust.

I would rather suggest you better go for Pinterest. Twitter is no more great in driving traffic.

Just go to Twitter and sign in with your real name or your pen name you´re using in hubpages. It´s easy. Have a look first and read the rules and regulations. You can follow me if you want to.

I was just about to ask the same question. I'm not familiar with twitter, but I know that it's a great way to gain views.

Well, all the advice so far is great (and I agree to a certain degree), but from my experience Twitter is a great benefit if you learn to utilize it the right way, and this is a big part of what I do for a living (SEO and Social Media Development and Management for businesses and corporations).

So here is some of my input- I hope it helps a little....

    You must create the account....
    You must Tweet your hubs...
But it will all only do you any good if you connect with others on Twitter. The best way to connect, is to Follow people that are in your area of interest. You can find many people whom are on HubPages on Twitter... (mine is @txhcporter)
When you connect to them- they will most likely return the favor.

You can also use Facebook- which can be linked to Twitter... Each status update post you post to Facebook- will then provide a post to Twitter. You can also join some groups on Facebook and posts links to your hubs within those groups- (a lot of the groups have separate threads/ lists within the description of the group that you can post your links to other Social Networks to... which will also gain you followers... More followers equals more opportunity for people to see your update/post/link and follow it to your hubs.
It is a good idea to support others on the site too, this will make it more likely that they will be willing to support your efforts and continue to follow your posts... LIKE- RETWEET- COMMENT ON THEIR TWEETS...
Also, repost links to your hubs. Just because a hub has already been tweeted, doesnt mean that you can not retweet it next week.
But...just as with all Social Media- you may find it more beneficial to actually post more than just links to your hubs... Mix it up...
Hope that gives a little more insight! I hope that you are able to gain more traffic to your hubs! Good Luck!

It takes years to build the relationships. If you just plug your gig all the time, people lose interest.

Here are few tips that is easy to get some good leads on twitter:

    1. First create an impressive profile.

    2.  Now give a search on Twitter for people or business of the same interest just as yours and add them to your friend list.  Do not over do it.  Just add 4-5 initially.

    3.  Tweet and retweet regularly interesting news and videos that you feel would be liked by all.

    4.  Do not spam with affiliate links on your tweets.

    5.  Interact with your Twitter friends and maintain a healthy online business relationship.  But never spam them with links by messaging them.

    6.  When you tweet interesting details about your business, use # along with popular keywords.  So it reaches a wider audience on twitter.

Example:  More and more students are using the latest #gadgets these days.  ----- Followed by your link to that interesting news..

    7. Very soon, you would notice many twitters would start to follow you.

I doubt that it is worth my time to Twitter since I haven't worked that account very much and have very few friends there.  The majority of my friends are on Facebook (2853) and on Hubpages (163), so I do my sharing in these places rather than on Twitter where I currently only have 5 followers.  It is best to share in the social networks that you actively work.  I'm in Hubpages now more than Facebook since I see the most benefit and interest in my articles stems from Hubpages and even though I have so many more followers on Facebook than I do here on Hubpages, I find the people here are more interested in hubs, so this is the best place to stay focused as I see it.  I am interested in learning how others answer your question and seeing if I am on the right track or if there is a benefit I don't see to using Twitter.

I attempted Twitter on a tip from a friend that it would help.  I did not find that to be true and once I thought about it understood the reasons.  Twitter is all about what you can do in the space of 140 characters.  Twitter is pretty much an outbound communication process and those in love with Twitter likely are not interested in reading anything that exceeds the 140 characters.  Like a soldier carrying a machine gun, it's fire quick bursts and move on.  I think you can find a better medium as a platform, like FaceBook or even the process of improving on your tag words to up your exposure on Google searches.  Your experience on Twitter might be different than mine so maybe you should give it a go but I would do so not expecting much in terms of results.  WB

You need to link the two pages so you can share hub articles on your twitter page. And every time someone follows you tweet a thank you and a link to your hubpage this goes both ways if you get a follower on hub then thank them and refer them to twitter page.

Twitter is a great advertising tool. Like Greekgeek says use your hashtags and when people put in a search for a subject they'll find your article.

Post fun things once in a while that aren't advertising your work. People don't want to be bombarded all the time.

Retweet other people's tweets and work.

Put in a search for the word "hubpages" and you'll find a lot of hubbers there. We help each other out.

I've gotten readers from there but I have a large following. Take time to follow people you enjoy reading and most will follow you back.

I wrote an article on Twitter but won't spam your page, if anyone is interested you can find it on my profile page.

Many marketing gurus have written articles on the importance of using Twitter so It's worth giving a try.

Thank you Pamela I'll certainly have a look at your hub on the subject. I would not have minded if you had put the link. I have written about 19 hubs and see poeple with 10k traffic awards and trying to learn all the tips to grow my traffic.

I recently wrote an article on this. I have over 10k twitter followers and it has really helped to increase traffic and increase my Hub earnings by about 5000% to my under 40 hubs in the last 4 or 5 months.

For SEO purposes Google takes twitter into account in it's latest algorithms to establish page rank.

I think twitter is a great business tool. It's really about engaging your business audience and having conversations. One of the best ways to do this is to answer questions people are asking in your niche and to ask thought provoking questions.

Don't be afraid to ask experts. I've a had some amazing chats with organizational thought leaders and counseling experts on twitter.

Once you have around 3-5k followers your tweets will get to the top of the tweet list for your keywords.

That's when you can really connect with readers because your tweet stays there for hours instead of minutes or seconds. When top listed tweets get re-tweeted, I believe that gets stronger Google link juice too.

As a counselor though, I have to warn people that social media is potentially very addictive and harmful to kids and to marriages. Keep online relationships professional and only have them for business purposes (in my view). Make sure to clearly define your business objectives and a reasonable amount of time per day to meet specific goals. For example, I don't use Facebook.
