    Why do you vote down an answer to a question asked here on Hub Pages?

    Officialy, you up or down vote an answer to a question if it does contribute a satisfactory answer or does not.  I down vote if I think an answer does not contribute.  However many answers are down voted by people out of spite or their warped sense off fun, they down, or up vote, questions that have no real answer (what is your favourite? or who what, is the best?) just for the sake of down voting, or that the voter doesn't like the informant, or dtsagrees with the informant, or thinks that at sometime the informant has slighted the voter.  I had one person who sent me a private email claiming I had down voted him.  That he can't know that adds to the absurdity of his action.

    If it's a stupid reply and doesn't answer the question. If it's from one of those grey silhouette profiles.

    If it's a hubber who I don't think is serious. If it's someone who I think is just trying to get merit for giving an answer, just any answer. I've had more than a few who have answered with "hello I don't know the answer but I'm glad you asked the question".

    This drives me demented and I generally delete them. In fact of late I don't think I have bothered with the vote down, I just delete nonsense,

    I don't tend to do that I only vote an answer up if I particularly like it. However on one occasion I did vote an answer down that was very offensive to a question I had asked. When I first started on Hub Pages an answer to a question I had asked, basically said I was stupid for asking such a thing etc. So in this case I did vote it down - unfortunately there was no way to respond to the offending response publicly, so I left it at a vote down.

    I vote down answers that do not contribute to the discussion, and answers which I know are technically inaccurate/extremely bad advise.
