   For fairly new hubbers: how long do you think it will take you to earn more than $250 monthly?

   yougotme: I have no clue.  For myself, because of my schedule and not able to be on HubPages on a consistent basis, I imagine it would take me a long, long time, judging from my low earnings each month.
   
   I am guessing some hubbers make alot each month, which I think is great.
   
   I love being in this writing community, and my purpose is to practice my writing skills as much as possible.
   
   I consider any positive comments to be a great blessing.
   
   IF money comes later, I will consider it a bonus.
   
   As of August, I will have been a hubber for a year.  I think I read where one hubber waited 2 years for an income. 
   
   It will be interesting to see how other hubbers respond to this.

      Thanks Sparklea! You have a great point! It really is more awesome if you focus on improving your craft rather than on the money alone.
      
      It should be "Money is secondary" in Hubpages. And I guess many hubbers will attest on this.

      Lol. I agree. I have been here 14 months and have made just over $7.00. I am not worried about it though, I have fun with it. I spend much more time reading than writing anyway!

   Not to answer a question with a question, but how long is never?
   
   Nobody can make $250/month from this site unless they're either willing to work for less than minimum wage or willing to use dubious tactics in pursuit of earnings based results. If you're going to make a hub you shouldn't do it with the intention that it's going to make you money; you should do it because it adds worthwhile information.
   
   Most people on this site are not experts on any subject material. Therefore, most information presented on this site usually represents peoples' opinions; a small portion of the information presented is based on know-how and facts.
   
   There's nothing wrong with stating an opinion on, say,  pop culture as long as the opinion is supported by good reasoning. On the contrary, a lot of hubs are lists and rankings and assertions that are supported by flimsy evidence; not to mention, a lot of hubs are thinly veiled efforts at promotions and marketing.
   
   In principle, a lot of hubs are merely redirects to advertised products.
   There's a conflict of interest if some members are steering readers toward products, deliberately, or if some members are picking hot keywords to generate traffic and make money for themselves.
   
   I doubt Hub Pages would compare itself to a catalog, though the similarities are self-evident.

   $250 a month is extremely rare. Look at the success stories on this site. Those are the top earners OF ALL TIME and most of them only make around 300-400 a month, and they have been here for years and have written hundreds of hubs. Those people approach hub writing like a job, so they probably spend 30-40+ hours a week on the site generating content and actively involving themselves in the community. With all of that work, a $400 payoff suddenly doesn't seem so great, but it's ok because those people love to do it and they probably have the free time (stay at home parents, college students, etc.).
   
   I've been here 2 weeks and have made just over 2 dollars. My only goal is to get to the point were I get a check every month (so at least $50 in earnings). I believe I can accomplish this because I have the free time. With that said, I think it helps to be a little more realistic unless you are willing to invest a significant amount of time.

   I have been here a little over two months, and I have only made a little over $4.00 so far, but that isn't why I stay at H.P.....I don't know that I would ever make $250 in a month.  Maybe some people do....I guess if you do this full time, maybe you can make more, but I don't know about $250.  Have you made $250 in any one month's time?  And, if so, how long were you at H.P. before that took place?

      I'm too far away from the $250 monthly earnings. As a matter of fact, my total earnings is just some dollar higher than yours. (I'm just about 3 months old here in Hubpages.)
      
      But I'm still hoping for the best.

   The way I look at it is this:  each hub I write is an opportunity to hone my craft, to learn something, and to attempt to become a better writer (and person) in the process.
   
   That said, one thing that's awesome about HP is that if you write quality hubs, those hubs don't just pay you once or twice, but rather continuously for the rest of your life.  If you think about it that way, and you love to write anyway, then it's a great way to make some extra money while doing your hobby.
   
   I'd image that somewhere around 300 *QUALITY* hubs you'd make $250/month easy.  I made $180 in one month (once) and only have 70 hubs.  You never know when something you write will go viral.  My advice to myself and others is just do what you love, get better at it every hub, and some day the money is sure to follow.

   Maybe a year...if you write your @#!%$ off and talk about either very current, very interesting, or very weird things!  Having the same goal in mind, I may do hubbing and Weebly Adsense sites - maybe more...affiliate marketing and advertising?

   yougotme... it all depends upon first the quality of hubs and the topics on which you are writing... i think around 75-100 quality hubs should be able to give you a return of USD 150 per month. Besides spending time on writing hubs, one also need to promote them through social networking,social book marking sites. 33 hubs in 3 month that's a awesome start my friend.

    I'm guessing it just depends on the content of your hubs. I've been writing for just a month and I've made $10.00 now off mine and I have 28 hubs written so far. I'm hoping to continue to making it an actual income but it looks like that's going to take a long time especially since my traffic has randomly dropped this past week suddenly. I still have hope that I can get to the $250 mark... eventually.

    I don't know I've been here about a week and I haven't made anything so far. I'm guessing a year maybe.
    The main reason I'm here is just for practice.
    Although if I was able to get $50 per month I'd be very pleased.
