It depends on how much "prep time" I have. Sometimes a Hub will stretch out over a couple of days before it's ready to go, other times I can bang it out in an hour or so.
Fastest Hub Time = 10 minutes, Text+images+links
Longest Hub Time to Date = 3 Hours (not including breaks)
Averages tend to be:
25 Minutes for 350-500 word articles with 3 pictures
40 Minutes for 500-850 word articles with 4-6 pictures
1 hour for 850-1500 word articles with many media elements
Now these are actual work time. Sitting there thinking about what picture would be good here, or looking at the tv for 5 minutes every 5 minutes doesn't count. So a 25 minute article could realistically take around 2 hours depending on how dedicated I am on writing it!

How long is a piece of string?
You could end up with a hundred thousand different answers for this one question because there are so many different elements to creating a hub. The actual time spent writing the hub is also impossible to calculate precisely as we are all different and write at varying speeds.
Tom might write 30 words a minute, Eliza 45 and Bob 3!
I know where you're coming from I think. You want to know the average time spent by the average hubber writing the average hub?
There are parameters laid down for hub length but these are only numbers. So if you want to write a :
SHORT HUB - 300 - 500 words 25 minutes-45 minutes writing time
MEDIUM HUB - 600 - 1000 words 45 m - 1hour+ "
LONG HUB - 1100 - 2000 words 90m - 2/3/hours "
MEGA HUB - 2050 - 3000 words 3 hours - 5 hours "
This is not an exact science!! Research time is not included. Personally I end up writing long hubs most of the time and I complete them over 2/3 days, spending a total of perhaps 2-3 hours whilst the hub settles.
If there's enough knowledge on the subject then
a 500 word hub would require 40 minutes,
a 800 word hubs requires 1 hour
and hubs around 1200 words need 80-90 minutes.
The thing is I haven't gone beyond 1200 words. I'll surely come up with broad topics and more content in near time as I hardly get time these days with other activities along side.
When the research for any subject need to be done then the time taken eventually increases and after all that I stick to the plan of writing the hubs in My Word document and then on submitting them when time permits as for the layout adjustments as a hub it would take some more minutes anyway.
This is a good question by the way.
Well how much time do yo take, Lwelch?
I would say it generally takes 2-4 hours. The longest part of the process seems to be adding links, citing sources, finding picture and videos to go with the piece. I am really just curious what everyone's average is.
I do agree with that. I focused on the content part. With the finishing i.r the entire publishing needs close to more than a hour for even a 500 word hub.
It usually takes me up to 2 hours to research most topics (escept the ones I base on personal experiences which take little to no research).
It takes me about an 30 to 60 minutes to decide how to organize the material and jot down or "cut and paste" the basic notes.
It takes up to 2 hours to write it from there.
Depends, I can spend all afternoon writing one, but usually in a morning I can fire one off in 30 minutes to an hour, I haven't lately due to illness but if you enjoy what you're working on the time flies by usually.
It actually depends on the topic you are writing about. If you really focus and put your mind into it, it will onlytake few minutes to an hour or even a day to complete. Preparation and having useful resources are very helpful in writing a hub as well as current knowledge and experience really help out. I think it is much easier and faster if you are writing a hub that interest you the most out of your personal experience and ideas.
Well that depends on the hubber. He can make a hub way long if he want it to be.

I was just wondering how long a hub takes you to write from concept to published? I am using hubpages as the start of my freelance writing career and I am working being more productive. I am also only doing my second hub now. I have an editor now so that will add time to the process still...

How long do you take on average to write a hub. I mean the whole process, research, writing etc. What would you say is the average for you?

Hey. I was wondering how long it takes you to write a hub. Perhaps an average time overall or for various types of hubs. I read somewhere of a guy who wrote 10 hubs a day for 10 days! In my dreams. I take well over two hours per hub. Probably more if I added it all up. Thanks,Juliet

When looking for information on a hub topic it is good to make sure that the information is accurate and that you have done your homework because there is nothing worse than reading an article that has false information. This takes the reader away from your site as they feel that it is fictitious...

How much time do you normally require to write a hub on the average? I am asking this because I can easily write a hub within 30-40 minutes time and sometimes a hub will take a couple of hours or so. BUT food hubs are taking a lot longer to complete, maybe because I haven't written much articles on...

A form of this question came up in a recent thread. I responded that I can and have written more than 10 hubs or articles in one day. I just finished a hub, and it took me 19 minutes to write it. It's 800 words long. Many of the articles I write for publishers are only 500 words long. So, you see,...
