Are unpublished hubs' scores still factored in with the published hubs' scores?

Unpublished hubs still have scores. Does anyone know whether the unpublished scores are factored in with the published scores to determine the overall hubs score? Just by looking at the Hub Statistics page, it would appear they are factored in. I've looked at other questions related to this and some say yes and some say no. Does anyone really know?

It seems to me.....An unpublished Hub is exactly that....unpublished, thus, not included and/or factored into anything.   WHY would they be?...and how would that be justified?  I seriously do not think they are factored in.   Only HP can answer that.......I'm just assuming the most rational answer.

When I have had unpublished hubs, it seems my score drops a point or two, but I can't "prove" it and have not seen anything stating that it does.

Actually yes they are. I have a hub now that is only a title and keywordsbut it has a hub score. If I add all of my hubs scores together and divide that answer by the number of hubs I have then it gives me my overall hub score.

As strange as it sounds, I believe they are, as I had been working on a hub, so it was unpublished and it had a very high score than a lot of the hubs that were actually published!!!  I thought this was strange, but it is true.  So, I made sure I published that one and it continued on up with the scoring.  I do not have any unpublished hubs at the moment.  As fpherj suggested, HP would be best to ask this question of them.

As a new user, I am hesitant to create "unpublished" hubs due to this very calculation. I simply type my hubs in a text editor and create / publish the whole hub once I have all the content finished. Using this method, I won't have a penalty for unpublished hubs. Please correct this information if it isn't correct. I am still learning myself.

your hub scores are meaningless there is no penalty. It's a referance number to help you judge the quality of your work, nothing more.

Thank you very much DS Duby. I will just keep creating quality content and not fret about my Hub scores.
