Michele, I also ask questions and will point out the strengths I see in the writing.
When a hub speaks to me I want the author to know the power and impact their words had on me.
I agree there are times there is nothing to say. Thanks!
Good point innerspin, we can see how our hubs are doing and how many people are reading them through the stats. But it is also very helpful to know when something you write touches someone on some level.
I agree with innerspin, I read the hubs of those I follow, but only leave comments if it is of interest, I have a questions, or can add to the content. I also vote on them, even if I don't leave a comment.

Good perspective Rosana, The comment 'know that I am reading your hub' seems illusive.' How can we know a certain person is reading if there is no comment? I'd not considered the shy, I thought all writers love words & use them to express themsel
Gary, I also leave detailed feedback. I agree it helps the hubber to know how their words impact the reader but if I read a hub that leaves me with nothing ... I do not share .. that would be deceitful and not helpful. Thanks!

You can help the HubPages community highlight top quality content by ranking this answer up or down.
You've got a point breathing .. we couldn't possibly answer the comments of all the people who read our hubs ... somehow that helps balance the picture. Thanks!
I agree with you duffsmom, I am open to hub writers critiques. Not all writers are open and unless they say so, I'll pass the hub without comment.
Hi DrMark, no, I do not leave comments on a poorly written hub, one with factual mistakes, misspelled words etc., unless the author requests feedback.
The comment 'great hub' is NOT helpful to anyone. Comments need to be honest and helpful
