Is it normal to take over a year to get 5000 Hub views?

I am feeling that my hubs are maybe not as good as I would like them to be, I do periodically update and revise my hubs.  Sometimes, I completely rewrite them.  I was just wondering how many other authors have had a similar experience.  I am proud of this achievment, but concerned that it is not all that great to only have 5000 total views in a year.

It should not take 1 year for 5000 views if you have more than 40 articles. If you ask for my experience, I didn't reach the 5000 mark yet, I am new here and started writing just a 20 days before and published just 14 hubs and I am near my 1000 views mark.

You should be proud of your achievement. Don't want to take away from that. But if your goal on hubpages is traffic and earnings, then 5000 views a year is low. I wouldn't assume that your hubs are not good quality, but it could be that people can't find them, or that they are about topics that are saturated with online articles. How are you marketing your hubs? Are you putting it on social media, linking from other sites to your hubs, etc... those things will help drive traffic.

I'm not sure there is a "normal" number of views people get here on HP.  Much depends on the quality and number of your hubs as well as the subjects you write about.

I could write 100 hubs on toenails but it's likely I wouldn't get many people who are interested enough in that subject to get me the page views I would want to have.

Take a hard look at what you've written to see if your material is original and unique.  If not, that could be your problem.

    Good luck.

It took over a year before I got to 10K views. But then I wasn't very active on HubPages for a few months. Perhaps if you publish quality hubs more often then your views would increase. ^_^

I am not good in giving advices, but may be you should expand your audience? 45 persons follow you while you follow only 1. I can assume that people do not feel they are interesting for you, therefore you are not interesting for them and they do not come to see your hubs here and there. .. Most of my traffic now comes from hubpages, not from Google searches as it was before recent Google updates, so I would probably think about it smile

Well, if it's any consolation, I have been around for 9 months and haven't even cracked 4,000 views yet. Then again, I have only published 12 hubs thus far and most of those are poems. :0)
