Why is hubpages changing so many things?

    Why is hubpages changing so many things?

    When opening hubpages today I noticed that there have been lots of changes such as there is a help button now, the approve and deny are no longer green buttoned, and there is a list under the different account settings instead of how it used to be. Why is hubpages changing so many things? Do you like the new way?

    Change is the only thing that doesn't change!  It is good to note that HP makes changes as time progress.  It is wonderful that they are incorporating good design and ideas with a humble mission to help us, the hubbers.  Most of the changes are user friendly and convenient too. So let's welcome it all and wait for further improvements.

    One thing is for sure, and that is while the hub pages are making all of these changes our fellow hubbers are leaving in droves. I've been keeping track of the statisics since last year, and we,ve said goodbye to almost 20,000 fellow hubbers in just a little over 6 months - http://goody5.hubpages.com/hub/Google-vs-the-Hub-Pages and that is not a good thing for anyone here at the hub pages.

      What about all the spammy accounts that have been removed? I'd say that was a very good thing!

      I disagree, more room for those of us who work hard to create quality content.  I understand where you're coming from, but how many of these were banned for spamming? had low-quality content? etc.

    My page has seemed "distorted" all day. Things are out of alignment, my approve and deny buttons are no longer red and green buttons but clickable words. My accolades are not symbols/badges but numbers. I can hardle recognize my account page and wondered all day if it is the fault of "my computer" or something with "HP's Site". I've considered Restoring my computer all day which I've been avoiding unless necessary and I have been neglecting to participate because I'm assuming something is wrong?

      I restore my computer all the time. It has not helped me.

    I am hoping and assuming that the current changes as of 30/3/13 are either a technical glitch, or else are only transitional. In other words, this is a 'work in progress'. If this is the finished layout then it is really terrible with a big blank space at the top of the My Account page and a visually unclear presentation to all the data. The 'Accolades' badges on the profile are reduced to meaningless numbers, and the preview facility on a hub in edit mode isn't working.

    I am giving benefit of the doubt, because I cannot believe this is the finished 'design'. Change for change's sake is not good, but I guess we have to wait and see the eventual shape of the Accounts, Profile and Hub pages before judging too much.

      Please see SidKemp's comment and my reply, both posted after my initial comment above. Problems currently do indeed seem to be a glitch in IE, NOT a deliberate change in layout by HubPages. In Firefox, the layout of pages  is normal. That's a relief!

    At a larger level:
    1) As the Internet gets more overloaded with information, much of it low quality, Google creates automated solutions trying to ensure it puts high-quality content at the top of its rankings.
    2) HubPages then responds by making changes that encourage us to, and make it easier for us to, write high quality content, get help, and so forth.
    3) Sometimes, there are glitches. Much of the Interface that rolled out on Thursday 3/29 looks very weird in IE 9, as several of us have reported.

    Note: I appreciate Goody5's data reporting, but disagree with his/her views. In my view, nothing good or bad is happening. Change is happening, and everyone is adapting. What used to work doesn't. New things do. Hubbers who succeeded the old way may not succeed now. They may adapt, let things lie, or move on.

    Let's keep learning and growing, each and all together. As we succeed in providing great content, HubPages succeeds with us.

      Thanks for that Sid. Glad to hear it's only a glitch. IE is my default browser. But switching to Firefox, everything becomes normal again! Hopefully the problem with IE will soon be fixed as I guess IE is the browser of choice for the majority of us.

      The glitches give me a headache. I have been unable to really participate in hubpages the way I used to. I hope they get it fixed soon. On the other hand, I'm worried that my hubs will start to not be featured anymore. Do you have any ideas on this?

    I like positive changes.  What I don't like is that my traffic has dropped dramatically again and when you're used to consistent traffic, this is just discouraging.
