   When you post a question and select a best answer, do you then close the question?
   
   On questionswhere I am actually needing an answer and not just really someone's view on something, I will close the question once I receive the answer, but I have not done so on questions otherwise, even after I have chosen a "best" answer, should I close the question then, as I have noticed hubbers will continue to answer after I have chosen a "best" answer?  So, that being, in my mind, I am thinking I should continue as I do, just leave the question open for others to continue to comment on those "one's views" or "opininon" questions.

         You are exactly right. Do not close the question. Folks will continue to answer months down the road. This is a plus for you as far as self promotion.

   No, i don't close the question because I want to see more answers from different people. More or less, i could read more interesting answers later on even though I had selected "Best Answer"

   I've never really considered closing the question, though I suppose if it was something technical that would ultimately generate many same or similar responses, I might. Then again, I haven't asked but a few.

      Hi shanmarie, yes, I close them when I get the "technical" answer to a technical question but, otherwise, I keep it open.  Then,today, I wondered if I should close after choosing a "best" on any question.

   It is alright to keep our question without closing it.  But care should be taken to select the BEST ANSWER since if you select one as the best without giving a reasonable time to analyse all answers coming, you are at loss to invite some meaningful answers. It is because once people find that the best answer is already selected, they don't have interest to leave their answers.

   I do agree with all the others here, that I would probably leave it open.
   
   So I was wondering, "If everyone agrees that they should be left open, then why is there the option to close it?"  The only thing I can think of is that leaving it open for additional answers also leaves it open for spam links down the road.  As the question matures and ranks higher in Google, it may attract more spam marketers who will come along and post their links on it.  That could hurt your subdomain and HubPages in general.
   
   So if you're not monitoring those answers every now and then, it could be useful to close really old questions.  Just a thought.

      Hi Chris, thanks so much for answering. I appreciate the added info so much, and that is a good question, plus good thoughts about the really old ones.  I do close the ones down, where I have actually gotten a technical answer, but not on the others.

   I have wondered the same thing, so I'm glad you asked. I have never closed any and wondered if I should, but I thought that they'd probably just die slowly anyway! It's been interesting reading the responses as I'd never thought of such things as self-promotion and our questions ranking with Google. I just ask questions when I really want to know the answer. Oh, dear, there's so much to learn, isn't there?

   Logic says that the question be closed for further answers but I never close the question as I feel that there is always better than the best and one may miss the opportunity to know better than the best.
