Have You ever followed/unfollowed a Hubber based on their stance?

The beauty of Hubpages is the diversity of the community, all of us coming together with a common goal in mind: to write. But have you ever followed or unfollowed a hubber based on learning where they stand on "hot" issues such as marriage rights, immigration laws, marijuana, religion, etc?

I personally have not. I will follow those that disagree with me and still appreciate their perspectives even when I disagree so long as we are all respectful in our ability to debate.

I am a very passionate person about what I believe and I don't feel a need to hide that from people. It has cost me some followers I think, but only a few and in my opinion if people can't appreciate your writing on other subjects because they happen to disagree with you about something else, well that wasn't much of a good follower in the first place smile

I would only "unfollow" someone if they truly offended me or if they started spamming me or something lol. I don't think I've every unfollowed someone here actually.

I like that answer smile. Each person has there right to they're own opinion, if you don't like that.. You are basically self-centered, all people are different. My answer is with Christin even though I've been on here for 2 weeks haha.

Agreed I don't really pay any attention to whether I agree with a person.

Being new, I haven't unfollowed anyone yet. I could see it happening in the future, but not with those I'm currently following. I just can't see following someone if I disagree with the bulk of what they write. And I would definitely unfollow someone if they started writing a bunch of stuff that was racist, sexist, etc. If it's occasional disagreements, I'd stick with them. There's always a chance I'll see that my point of view is incorrect and I'll change my way of thinking.

I would follow someone based on their stance if I agreed with it. They might be aware of things going on with the hot issues that I'm currently unaware of and I'll learn something new. That's something we need if we're to take a stand for or against something in the public sphere.

I've never unfollowed because of a writers stance on an issue.  The whole point to Freedom of Speech is good civil discussion on issues and concerns. As long as it is civil and lacking in personal attacks, I'll continue to follow, disagree or not.
For the most part I follow writers who write well, because I'm more of a reader than a writer.
The reasons I unfollow is the writer has either left HubPages, or has not published anything in several years. Unfollowing never has anything to do with stance on an issue.

Nope. How are you ThompsonPen. Honestly I unfollow based on two criteria. The first is if someone openly says they are not following me any longer, well okay. My response is let me help and unfollow them, that way any of the "writing" I produce does not appear on their feed with a relationship. I in a sense seek compliance with their wish(s).

Other than that I go through followers and following looking for those no longer active over a year or more. That may be critical in a sense. Yet if they maintain their portfolio and that is active then I default toward not making a change with follower or following status. In other words the economics of space. I delete questions that are more or less six months too. A chore if left too long.

With a bit of humor I stand crooked anyway since I have a hip challenge and osteoarthritis of the lower left leg. Thank goodness for a chiropractor for the hip and the primary care give and those vein doctors too. I Do not know if that says anything about stance or not, said with a giggle.

I have twice. Once because I disagreed with that person's views on a number of topics and their outlook tended towards violence (which I cannot abide) and the other because their writing was so poor it took me quite a while to decipher what they had to say-which turned out to be bigoted and self serving.
