Is Hubpages worth writing for anymore?

I have to wonder after the devastating loss in traffic that HubPages and its users have experienced, whether this site is actually worth writing for anymore. I can see some potential in that it can be used as a way to promote amazon products, but other than that I wonder if this site has much value. Please let me know your thoughts.

As with anything, it depends on what your goals are, what you put into it, if the platform here matches the type of writing you want to do etc. There are a lot of variables. As with anything, it is right for some folks and not for others.

For example, I do a lot of niche writing and I create custom graphics for my hubs. The hub layouts allow me to create really beautiful articles. In turn, I use these hubs to show potential clients.  Hubs have brought me a lot of income indirectly with new clients who were impressed with my writing. My graphics also get a lot of traffic from Pinterest and social media.   I make payout each month, so I am satisfied.  Now, if I were doing only Hubs for an income? no way. I don't make enough here to live on.

Other benefits here are the community, the comments, the feedback - some of it more than others wink lol.  You kind of have to look at the whole package when considering if it's the right fit for you.  For me, it is still worth it and I think ultimately the changes taking effect now are going to be to HP's benefit and help it recover from the Panda beating it has been taking the past year or more.

Am I too much of an optimist in that department? perhaps, but only time will tell I suppose.  In the meantime, it's still worthwhile to me and I enjoy it, so I'll stick with it.

Great answer. I think that HubPages does have a great community, and I must thank you for your lengthy post! smile I think that you've also touched on an important point here that the current updates may well improve the situation on HubPages.

I signed up because of the information i can get and share.  The writers here make it a worthwhile site.

I think HubPages is helping me find who I am as a writer. That being said, it's worth it.  It's better than idle time anywhere else on the net!

I suppose that depends on why you write for hub pages and how much time and effort you put in.  For the past couple of months, because I have been taking finals I have been less active, thus my score and traffic have dropped accordingly.  I personally think hub pages for the most part offers quality content and has the potential to create traffic and income.

I'm using HP because I like the ease of laying out the formatting. When I blog, if I want to have graphics, polls, etc in certain places, I have to go into the .html coding and add the formatting. Here it's an easy click to get the box and a couple more clicks to upload the graphics and such. When it comes to the actual text, I think HP is worth me being here because I get a lot more readers than I ever have with my blogs. Also, my pages seem to get a lot higher ranking in the search engines.
