   How often do you check your hubs for copied content?
   
   If you have ever had your content copied you will notice a small red c in a circle next to the hubs title in your account. From my experience this doesn't appear until several months later.  That being the case, how often if ever, do you check for copied content.

   I wrote a hub today about the red C showing up on a hubber's profile a full year after three of his hubs had been copied to 24 websites. After sitting there for about 7 months, the website decided to compile it all into several ebooks. He is trying to decide whether it is worth it to pursue them legally. 
   
   I try to check every week, but sometimes I just don't have time. Unfortunately every time I do check, I do find something.  I don't think Hubpages system for finding and notifying hubbers of copied content is the best because it is not timely. It certainly should not be the only thing that hubbers rely on.
   
   Instead of waiting to be notified that the deed has been done already, using a checker like COPYSCAPE (for example) is the best way to keep on top of it, in my opinion.

      Yes I had one copied and it had been published for about 7 months before Hubpages alerted me.
      I have just tried copyscape as you suggest.  I think you are correct, we as authors need to keep on top of it.

      COPYSCAPE has a free version that limits you to 10 searches/ day, and a pay version with unlimited searches. If you don't have much to check, free is good. I like free stuff. lol. If I see alot of copying, then I'll think about the pay version.

   I check my hubs everyday just in case there's something HP management wants me to rectify (usually its probably a broken You Tube link that needs fixing..and that's only happned twice with me)... fortunately nothing's been reported as copied...

      Sometimes it can take months to be notified. Best to check yourself using a program such as Copyscape as RachaelOhalloran suggested.

   I need to do it more. The thought of it happening freaks me out. It seems that we have only so much control over it. It is so annoying how often it happens to us on HP.

   Very rarely today. Maybe more in the future. Time and patience with checking is the main reason why.
