Space Invaders Have Attacked My Hubs!

First there was EditBot, then came EditBot Comments. I literally feel like I'm playing Space Invaders every time I open My Account now. It's highly distracting, and when I "uncheck" the unwanted corrections, these Robots should Go Away! At what point do we tell HubPages that enough is enough!? I mean, this is downright ridiculous. What are your thoughts?

I feel your angst and totally agree - the site is meant for writers to critique other writers, not for a machine to make judgements.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if I was alone in feeling this way.

If the bots find legitimate errors, such as misspellings, then that's fine. But the "corrections" I've seen so far on mine aren't needed--and many are in the comments section! And I'm with you--I think the icon should go away once we have looked at the corrections (whether we leave them or uncheck them).

Yes, exactly. Most of my "corrections" were not only unnecessary, but made me look like I can't speak English. They were incorrect corrections. What this means to me is that HubPages has caused me to Work to keep my hubs readable!

While I appreciate the intent of the EditBot I agree that the icon should disappear once the Hub writer has viewed and decided what to do about the error.

I personally find it invasive and unwarranted. But I agree with you that once it's reviewed (since we're forced at gunpoint to review their changes to OUR works)  the icon should go away!

They just updated the program.  Now, once you check your errors, the bots will disappear...but only after you refresh your stats page.

This is one of the best hubs I have ever read, ever. It said exactly what I've been thinking, with added satirical flavor. You Win! Best Answer smile

I have discovered a new annoyance with the edit bots...I decided to go through and edit all of the highlighted corrections within my text - I refuse to correct someone else's words (in the comments) and despite the fact that the corrections were made, in a few cases, the edit bot is still indicating that the misspelled words are in the text - even though they are no longer there. I find them annoying to begin with, but their presence when the corrections have been edited is super annoying.

I agree; editing someone else's thoughts is offensive. I can't believe it even exists! I don't need Big Brother putting words into my readers' mouths. I have just gone through and "unchecked" all of their "corrections" because all of them were wrong!
