More and more doctors and insurance providers are beginning to look into, prescribe, and cover alternative and natural medicine. Does it work? What experience have you had with natural medicine or alternative medical treatments?  Share your knowledge on these subjects as part of this week’s Weekly Topic Inspiration challenge!

Tips on writing Hubs on this subject
    1. Include references (and links) to studies; refer to specific details, and concrete data
    2. Supplement objective information with any real world experience you might have had with alternative medicine
    3. Share a balanced viewpoint (perhaps including a Table Capsule summarizing benefits and drawbacks of a certain method or treatment, or comparing an alternative treatment with a mainstream one)

    Search-friendly titles to consider
    When to Consider Homeopathic Treatment
    What do Naturopathic Doctors Do?
    When to Consider Holistic Treatment
    What is Complementary Alternative Medicine?
    Alternative Treatment: Benefits and Drawbacks
Don’t have a particular Hub in mind? Here are some search-friendly titles to consider using:
    Reiki Treatment: Is it Effective?
    Are Reiki Practitioners Effective?
    Chakra Healing: Does it Work?
    Is Prayer for Healing Effective?
Prayers for Healing: Do They Work?
    Light Therapy for SAD
    LED Therapy 101
When to Get a Light Therapy Lamp

To create search-friendly titles of your own, follow the steps outlined in this Learning Center guide.

If you'd like to join in on this week's topic by writing a Hub, follow these steps:

    1)    Stop by this week's Weekly Topic Inspiration Question.
    2)    Click the green button "answer this question".
    3)    Click the gray button below the box (leave that empty) that says "make a Hub about it."
    4)    Give your Hub a very specific title, like Easy Summer Gardening Projects for Kids or Challenging Summer Activities for Teens
    5)    Create good quality original content that hasn't been covered before.
    6)    After you publish your Weekly Topic Inspiration Hub, come back to this forum thread and post a link to your Hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.

For more information on the Weekly Topic Inspiration program, check out the Learning Center guide.

I wrote about how prayer is looked upon as an effective part of the healing process, titled "Is Prayer for Healing Effective?" Here is a link to the hub: http://marleneb.hubpages.com/t/325816

MarleneB, this Hub is positively stellar. What a fantastic overview you've given- and I like how you're not preachy about it; you just provide a sound, compassionate introduction and useful information. The layout, links, image, and videos compliment your text splendidly. Brava.

Thank you, Simone. Mostly, thank you for feeling like it wasn't "preachy". My goal was not to preach, so your compliment truly warms my heart.

This looks like a fun theme.  I'm really into alternative medicine...I'm going to see if I can "conjure" up a hub or two on this theme.  smile  Thanks for the idea!

Here's a new writer! LOL My first attempt at writing to a given topic in the Weekly Inspiration Hub, and my second Hub post. I chose Hypnotherapy as it has helped me immensely, and the brain fascinates me. Here is the link: http://dianals516.hubpages.com/t/325f75
Criticism welcome - be gentle. ;-)

Alternative Therapies fascinate me too! I can easily write at least half a dozen Hubs on the topic without stressing my brain.  I have never written a Hub based on Weekly Topic Inspiration so far, so this would be my first attempt.

I have already written many hubs on chakras. So I picked the topic 'Chakra Healing: Does it Work?' so that I could link to my existing Hubs.

I am also in. This topic is surely a comeback for me. I have written 100 hubs on alternative/natural medicine at Hubpages. Now it's the time to write more as these hubs are converting well for me and are the highest earners for my amazon account.

    Dr. Oz always discusses alternatives.
My opinion............the f.d.a. allows prescription medications to be approved and the doctor's push them on patients.  The kickbacks provided for prescribing drugs happens wrecklessly and usually ends up causing another negative effect in your body.  Then you are given a prescription for that problem, and the scenario continues.
Unfortunately very few doctors say hey, let's watch your cholesterol or loose weight and change diet to try and help you get off diabetes medication.
The food is filled with preservatives and hormone's to speed up production.  Cancer seems to be taken over the country and the drugs, surgeries, and treatment centers continue to grow.
    Nature provides all remedies.

I am probably one of the few people who runs away from natural and alternative medicine! I'm not sure why...

    1. Randy M. profile image75
Randy M.posted 11 years agoin reply to this

Natural and alternative medicine is more frequently about how to keep the body well.  If you are interested in maintaining a healthy body and methods of doing so, then understanding the reasons why you are running the other direction may be of importance for you.
