Do I HAVE TO insert a link back to the images I use... even if I get it from google and its listed for free use, to share or to modify even commercially? I know I have to do so if I use a photo from Flickr. I need clarity on this... don't want my hubs to be flaged or unpublished. And when, if ever, is it okay not at attribute the image?

It depends if the photo states "requires attribution". Sites like Morguefile don't.

Getting something from Google says nothing about conditions of use.  For each one you need to check whether you can use it and whether that use requires attribution and/or a link.

I am seeing a lot of hubs that just say "Source:Google Images"  with no link.  I thought that we couldn't do this. Can we? I am not trying to call anybody out, I'm just trying to understand.

As said earlier... It depends on what the owner of the photo wants. So when you get a photo you can use, go to the website the photo came from and see what they require.
